After reading weeks of hate filled comments on our page from the self proclaimed "open minded and tolerant" Left, we continue to laugh at how many Democrats still cling to the notion of being the "Party of the Working Class" as their most powerful elected official Senator Chuck Schumer, continues to be the lifetime LEADING recipient of Wall Street campaign cash. As a side note, he's also long been one of the leading supporters of Israel, even as public opinion polls show that nearly 80% of Democrats and Democratic leaning independents express an unfavorable view of Israel (Pew Research Poll).

Apparently when Democrats wave their fists in the air screaming "vote blue no matter who" they really mean it!

Here in Ohio, there are several places where "vote blue no matter who" has yielded the expected results. Our largest cities have been Democratic Party fiefdoms for decades, if not generations, and persistently have violent crime rates FAR higher than the rest of Ohio.

Or just take a short drive up to The People's Republic of Athens where yet another tax hike was just passed on the heels of wiring $700,000 intended to pay for the new fire department to a scammer. How'd that happen? Good question! Since the Athens City Auditor (and every elected official in the city) was/is a Democrat...she got a pass. Yes...a pass! No protests, no outrage, NOTHING! If the City Auditor had been Republican, we guarantee the angry blue mob would've shown up with pitchforks, (organic) tar, and (recycled) feathers. Maybe, just maybe there will be a finding for recovery issued here by the State Auditor. There could be some recent precedent to do so...guess we will have to wait and see! If so, maybe ActBlue can cover it.

You may also recall our post in January when only 2 out of 7 Democrat Athens City Council Members refused to stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance. Democrat Mayor Patterson also sat through it on his @$$ as well, despite having served over 20yrs in the Air Force! Finally, not to be outdone, Democrat Council President Micah McCarey was just a moment late to his own meeting so he conveniently wasn't in council chambers when dozens of citizens stood up. A true blue profile in courage moment on his part as well. Perhaps next time he runs for State Rep, he could propose removing the Pledge of Allegiance from the Ohio General Assembly Session Days. Then we will see whether it's humanly possible to get even less than the 32% of the vote that he received in 2024.

After several weeks clouds and rain, Meigs County's Great Bend Solar Farm has been getting a few hours of actual sunlight again, so let's take a moment to see how that alleged "global energy transition away from fossil fuels" is actually coming along.

On one hand, new global solar and to a lessor extent wind installations are indeed growing at a fast pace. Their "nameplate capacity" is increasing but remember, their ACTUAL output in reality is a small % of that. Great Bend's is around 20%. But yes, global solar&wind installations are increasing at a fast rate.

But guess what? Global energy demand is growing even faster, so fossil fuel use is still increasing not decreasing. As we've shown here numerous times global coal, oil, and natural gas consumption still goes up virtually every year and has for well over a century.

Those of you who rely on mainstream "news" for information might not be used to this, but here is some actual CONTEXT to show how much wind&solar contribute to the global energy mix. Despite decades of massive government subsidies and mandates it's now a whopping 3.3%.

3.3% is not exactly what we'd call transformational. More like window dressing.

BTW-China accounts for over 80% of that global solar market. Does anyone know if the Uyghur slaves who make the Chinese solar panels have "Green Jobs"?

Every 2 years going back to at least 2016 we've heard the Democrats tired prediction of a "big blue wave" headed for Ohio. As these maps (and others) show, their candidates have kept hitting a giant red brick wall in about 80/88 counties, many of which Democrats used to routinely win. "Used to" meaning back when the Democrats at least pretended to care about working men&women. Some may recall a time when a Democrat US Senator wasn't the TOP recipient of Wall Street cash (Chuck Schumer) or Democrats weren't the TOP recipients of Big Pharma PAC cash (like Senators Warnock-D Georgia, Biden, Bob Casey D-PA, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton)
Actually, Senator Chuck Schumer summed up the Modern Democratic Party really well at the 2016 National Convention:
"For every blue-collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia, and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin."
i.e. "screw you working people, we want voters with money!"

Democrats on Fb get soooo mad when we point out these facts...read the profanity filled comments and picture them angrily pounding their keyboards with rage! Likely the very same people with a virtue signaling yard sign proclaiming "Hate Has No Home Here" and a phony "COEXIST" bumper sticker suggesting that they hold some morally superior sense of "tolerance" over the rest of us.

The three maps here show recent competitive elections in Ohio where both sides were well funded. Gen X "China, China, China" Tim Ryan fared the best...barely, while geezers Sherrod Brown and Rich Cordray pulled nearly identical results. For Democrats to realistically win a statewide election in Ohio, their candidates would have to find a way to win back some of their traditional base in either the Mahoning Valley and/or win back counties in Appalachia that Ted Strickland used to carry. (Hint: There is more to Appalachian Ohio than The People's Republic City of Athens, and BTW- Democrats used to win here) Again..."used to". Finally, part of such an effort would also need to include winning some of the lake counties and almost certainly Wood County, which as we recently covered will closely mirror statewide election results.

None of this is inside news or secret strategy. Any objective onlooker can clearly see that Ohio statewide Democratic Candidates have lost voters in counties/regions that were long with them. You'd think, somebody in their leadership would ask "Gee! We used to win here. Maybe just maaaaaybe we screwed up? Huh...wonder what it could be?" Considering that they continue to run the same retread geezers (Ted Strickland 2016, Brown 2026) and expect different outcomes suggests otherwise.

Speaking of retreads, Kamala Harris is still leading the pack of aspiring Democratic Presidential Candidates...but that's a post for another day!

On this day in history- August 23rd, 1814 British Troops were about to enter Washington DC during the Way of 1812. As you'd imagine, the President, First Lady and most everyone else fled. Truth be told, it was a mid level bureaucrat named Stephen Pleasonton who thought to grab the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, along with George Washington's Military Commission. He placed them in linen bags, loaded them on carts, and left DC just before the British Troops burned the White House, Capitol Building, and much of the city. He eventually hid them in a basement vault near Leesburg, VA until after the war.

Stephen Pleasonton went on to hold a long, rather controversial career overseeing the US lighthouses, which was a very big deal at the time.

He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC near his son, Civil War Major General Alfred Pleasonton.

BTW, the British only stayed for about a day b/c a massive, torrential downpour and a reported tornado soon occurred which put out the bonfires and helped save what was left of the buildings. We are not sure if those weather events were caused by climate change or not, but rest assured if it happens again tomorrow, climate change will get 100% of the credit.

Those of you who relied on cable "news" for 40 years probably aren't aware that the USA is the world's 2nd largest exporter of goods&services. Walt Disney Movies and those 31 refurbished Abrams Tanks that Biden sent to Ukraine are about the only US exports they've mentioned. (BTW- most of those tanks were destroyed, captured, and/or no longer operational)

Here is our best effort creating a list of who our largest trading partners are. Oddly enough, we've fought a war (or two) with most of them. One of those, Vietnam, is rapidly cutting into China's dominance in some stages of manufacturing. US imports from Vietnam have increased about 1200% in the last 15 years and show no signs of declining.

Some may remember Japan, "The Economic Miracle" hit a brick wall of stagnation in 1990 and is in proportionately far deeper debt than the US today. More recently, China & The People's Printing Press debt fueled Ponzi Scheme has also slowed tremendously since 2020. Perhaps Vietnam will get to be the next economic Boogeyman? Not really sure how The Left feels about them since they generally seem to sympathize with Communist Governments but Vietnam is also one of the world's largest coal users.

Congressman David Taylor and his wife Charity visited the Meigs County Fair Friday afternoon and took a tour of the grounds. We were thrilled to see them along with several of our local elected officials at the both today including our two longest serving countywide officeholders Judge Scott Powell, Engineer Gene Triplett. Commissioner Jimmy Will and Recorder Huey Eason were also on hand this afternoon meeting with constituents🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Still no sign of geezer retread Sherrod Brown, COVID Lockdown Queen Amy Acton, or her Silver Spoonfed Lt Gov running mate.

Ohio Senate President and candidate for Lt Governor Rob McColley toured the Meigs County Fairgrounds Wednesday evening and met several people. State Senator Brian Chavez also was on hand as were many local officeholders. Still no sign of Amy Acton bothering to show up wearing her mask. Perhaps she’s still practicing social distancing? For that matter, we may have missed it but we’ve yet to see any of their statewide candidates stop by in ages, which might have something to do with Democratic candidates typically getting less than 30% of the vote here in a county that Ted Strickland routinely won.

US Senator Bernie Moreno was in SE Ohio today and stopped by the Meigs County Fair to tour the fairgrounds and meet with constituents….three things we don’t recall Sherrod Brown doing during his 32 years in Washington DC. We were excited to see Sen Moreno return to our fair and our community!!

Aside from the cutout, still no sign of Brown or Acton which is not surprising or disappointing TBH.

A few years back the phrase "Trust the Science" i.e. "Big PHARMA said so, therefore it MUST be true!" was quite popular. Today let's use science and a little math to evaluate two recent energy projects in Appalachian Ohio.
Last winter marked the completion of the 370 acre, $110Million Great Bend Solar farm with its 48MW generation capacity right here in Meigs County. "Capacity" here means 24/7/365 uninterrupted sunlight, which to the best of our knowledge even the most ridiculous climate change alarmists are not suggesting will occur. The reality is that even with it's modern tracking system that follows the sun east to west each day, the expected "capacity factor" is only 22% of that due to night darkness, cloud cover, fog, snow cover, etc throughout the course of a year.

About 3 years ago the 111 acre, 1,875MW capacity Guernsey Power Station combined cycle natural gas powered generation facility was completed about 85 miles north of the Great Bend Solar farm at a cost of $1.7Billion. The capacity factor of this facility is expected to be around 80% due to routine maintenance and various seasonal electricity demand factors, over the course of a year. This facility is well positioned to take advantage of local and extremely inexpensive natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica Shale region.

Over the course of a year, Great Bend can be expected to generate 92,514 Megawatt hours when the weather cooperates. Guernsey Power Station can be expected to generate 13,200,000 Megawatt hours (13.2TWh) which is 143 times more than Great Bend on less than 1/3 the acreage irrespective of what weather conditions "climate change" throws at it. In theory, about 13 to 14 identical units could produce as much electricity (approximately 179TWh) as Ohio consumed in 2025. Conversely, about 1,935 Great Bend Solar farms could theoretically produce that amount of electricity in a year, although battery storage would need to be added. One "minor" detail: for Ohio to have 10+ days of battery storage (like for those dark and cloudy winter months) would require more batteries than have been installed in the entire history of the United States and they'd need replaced about every 10-12 years. But hey, that would at least help create more mining jobs that "Progressive" Democrats will steadfastly oppose.

At $1.7Billion, the Guernsey Power Station cost 15.45 times more than the Great Bend Solar farm but produces 143 times more electricity in a typical year. 143 Great Bend Solar farms at $110Million/each = $15.73Billion but that would not include batteries. The sunlight is free, just not dependable.

But let's think big...like really BIG. "From The River to Lake Erie, Our Electricity Will Be Free!" 1,935 Great Bend Solar farms at $110Million/each = $212.85 Billion yes, BILLION dollars!

(Batteries NOT included)

Please check our math and science assumptions. While you're at it, try calculating the cost of enough batteries to backup Ohio's electricity demand for 10 days. Until next time, we look forward to plenty of hate filled comments from the virtue signaling and self proclaimed "open minded, tolerant, inclusive & welcoming community" of progressives who recently have increased our reach tremendously.

Tuesday a thunderstorm blew through the Athens County Fairgrounds and the Democratic Party big blue tent held up about as well as that solar panel farm did during the tornado. The red Athens County GOP tent was a few feet away and emerged unscathed. Must’ve been due to “Climate Change”
