Major Winter Storm Warning
Sunday February 22, through Monday February 24
Expected snowfall forecast is for 12” – 18” in northern CT and 18” – 24” in southern CT. Unlike the recent storm, the snow will be wet and heavy and could cause downed trees and power outages. Snow loading on roofs could be problematic.

Please plan to stay home. Snow is expected to begin mid-day on Sunday and gradually increase throughout the day, through Sunday night, and ending mid-day on Monday. Blizzard conditions are predicted along with wind gusts of 50 -60 mph. This will hinder plowing and power restoration efforts.

Call Eversource with power outages and to report downed wires. 800-592-2000 Do not go near downed wires.

CT State Police urge all CT residents to prepare for the winter storm expected this weekend. ❄

Here are some safety tips:
• Stay off the roads if at all possible
• If you must drive, check weather and road conditions to plan your route
• If you must drive, keep headlights on at all times
• Reduce speed on the roads and increase the distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
• Ditch all distractions
• Beware of snow plows trying to clear the roads, give them plenty of room to complete their jobs safely
• Allow extra time to arrive at your destination
• Call 911 in an emergency

If you anticipate that you will need to drive, prepare your vehicle: have a full tank of gas, bring a fully charged cell phone, ensure tires are inflated properly, pack warm blankets and extra clothing, bring water and snacks.
