FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Pomfret Residents Secure Referendum Vote Through Broad Bipartisan Support
POMFRET, CT — Thanks to strong bipartisan support and a shared commitment to civic participation, residents of Pomfret have successfully gathered more than 200 signatures to petition for a full-day referendum vote on this year’s town matters.
Traditionally, Pomfret holds an Annual Town Meeting followed by a limited voting window in which residents cast paper ballots in person. This year, the Pomfret Republican Town Committee helped facilitate a town-wide petition effort to expand access to the voting process through a referendum format, allowing more residents the opportunity to participate and have their voices heard.
The petition effort received support from residents across the community who share a deep commitment to Pomfret and a desire to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible fiscal decision-making for the town’s future.
At this time, the Registrars of Voters are in the process of validating the submitted signatures as part of the official referendum process.
The Pomfret Republican Town Committee would also like to sincerely thank all Pomfret residents who took time out of their day to sign the petition and participate in the process. The strong community response demonstrated the level of civic engagement and care residents have for the future of the town.
“We are grateful for the overwhelming support from residents throughout Pomfret,” said representatives involved in the petition effort. “This was about participation and ensuring residents have an opportunity to vote on important matters affecting the town.”
The successful petition reflects the strong civic engagement that continues to define Pomfret and demonstrates residents’ ongoing commitment to the future of the community.
Additional details regarding the referendum voting date and procedures will be announced by town officials following completion of the signature validation process.
