The Division's new-hire academy visited a local fire department on Tuesday to learn more about fire apparatus and response. It's the first part of the trainees' orientation to fire dispatch. After three days in the classroom, they'll spend several weeks on live work dispatching fire units under the close eye of a communications training officer (CTO). The fire dispatch training module is the eighth of the thirteen modules the trainees must complete before graduation later this year.

Our thanks to Assistant Chief Orin Ben-Jacob and his colleagues at Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 for the continued partnership between our agencies.

⚓ Rockland County Emergency Management – Hudson River Safety Notice ⚓

If you're planning to be on or near the Hudson River this weekend, please be aware of increased maritime security measures.

As part of the America 250 celebration, the U.S. Navy's USS MARINETTE will be traveling on the Hudson River during its scheduled visit to Albany from July 3–8, 2026.

To help ensure a safe passage, please follow these important safety guidelines:

🚤 Boaters: Keep a minimum distance of 100 yards from the USS MARINETTE. Entering the designated security zone with an unauthorized vessel or watercraft is prohibited.

🚁 Drone Pilots: Do not operate drones within 3,000 feet horizontally or 1,000 feet vertically of the vessel unless specifically authorized.

These temporary security measures are in place to protect everyone on the water and support a safe transit for the ship. We appreciate your cooperation and encourage all river users to remain alert and follow directions from law enforcement and maritime officials.

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday weekend responsibly!

We're in the middle of a heat wave in the Hudson Valley. Know the warning signs of heat stroke. If you suspect heat stroke, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Remember - if you're driving, walking, hiking, or camping, 9-1-1 needs to know where you are! Give your exact location, and stay on the line. A trained emergency medical dispatcher (EMD) will give you instructions on what to do.

The Communications Division's mobile public safety command center ("FieldComm") is at Charles S. Eccher Park on Lowland Hill Road in Stony Point today for Bike Safety Day and Touch-a-Truck!

FieldComm typically deploys about a dozen times each year, for both planned and unplanned events. Its minimum staffing is two Radio Operators, although more personnel are sometimes assigned. It can function as a mobile command post, emergency communications center (including E-9-1-1 capability), or both simultaneously.

Thanks to Stony Point Police Department and Stony Point PAL for welcoming us at this fun community event!

The Communications Division's mobile public safety command center ("FieldComm") is deployed at the James A. Farley Elementary School in Stony Point (part of North Rockland Central School District) this morning to participate in their annual Career Day event.

Career Day provides a great opportunity for students to learn about different professions, hear real-world experiences, and explore future possibilities. Chief Adam Feuer and a team of Radio Operators spent the morning talking to students about career opportunities with the Communications Division, and how an entry-level position with the Division can lead to a life-long career in public safety telecommunications.

FieldComm typically deploys about a dozen times each year, for both planned and unplanned events. Its minimum staffing is two Radio Operators, although more personnel are sometimes assigned. It can function as a mobile command post, emergency communications center (including E-9-1-1 capability), or both simultaneously.

Our thanks to the staff at FES! We hope to participate again in the future.

This National Police Week, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who keep our community safe.

We stand with the families who support them, remember those we've lost in the line of duty, and express our deepest gratitude to every officer serving today.

County Executive Ed Day, a retired NYPD Lieutenant-Commander and Baltimore Chief of Detectives, presented a proclamation to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office in recognition of their service and commitment to public safety.

Thank you to the Sheriff’s Department and all law enforcement personnel for your service and integrity.
