🌤️⚠️ AIR QUALITY ALERT FOR ROCKLAND COUNTY ⚠️🌤️

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for Rockland County today due to elevated levels of ground-level ozone. Air quality is expected to reach levels that may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

👶 Children
👴 Older adults
🫁 Individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions
❤️ People with heart disease

These groups should consider limiting prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities during the advisory period.

✅ Tips to reduce exposure:
• Limit strenuous outdoor exercise during the afternoon and evening
• Take frequent breaks if working outdoors
• Stay hydrated 💧
• Keep windows closed and use air conditioning if available
• Monitor symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, or chest discomfort

The higher the Air Quality Index (AQI), the greater the health concern. Stay informed and take appropriate precautions to protect yourself and your family. 🌎

🔥🥵 HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR ROCKLAND COUNTY 🥵🔥

A Heat Advisory has been issued for Rockland County as hot temperatures and high humidity combine to create dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outdoors.

Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly, especially for older adults, young children, individuals with medical conditions, outdoor workers, and first responders.

☀️ HEAT SAFETY TIPS:
💧 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.
🌳 Limit strenuous outdoor activities and take frequent breaks in the shade.
🚗 Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable individuals in a parked vehicle — temperatures can become deadly within minutes.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check on family members, neighbors, and friends who may be at higher risk from the heat.
🐾 Ensure pets have access to fresh water and a cool place to rest.

Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, unconscious, or shows signs of a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.

🚒🪜 Testing day is complete for our Aerial Operations class, and we're proud to report that all students successfully passed! Congratulations to everyone who put in the hard work and dedication throughout the course.
During this training, students developed the skills necessary to safely operate aerial apparatus, including proper truck positioning, aerial placement to buildings, and effective deployment techniques in a variety of scenarios. These critical skills help ensure firefighters can quickly and safely access elevated areas during emergencies.
Great job to all of the students and instructors who made this course a success. We look forward to seeing these skills put to work in communities throughout Rockland County and beyond.
