Great news!💧✨

We’re excited to share that the revisions to our Chapter 178 enabling legislation were presented to the Environmental Committee on 4/28/2026 and approved! This is a milestone that brings us one step closer to officially convening our group and moving important water‑focused initiatives forward across Rockland County.

These updates modernize the legislation, boost coordination and accountability, and rename our group the Water Advisory Council — giving it a clearer role as an advisory body and long‑term strategy partner for protecting Rockland’s water resources. This strengthened identity will help guide meaningful action and deepen collaboration across our community. A big, thank‑you to everyone who supported this effort.

Once adopted by the Full Legislature, we’ll be able to meet formally and accelerate work on key water actions.

Our team is feeling energized about what’s ahead and grateful for the growing momentum behind this work! 💙

Today, May 4th, is International Firefighters’ Day!

We’d like to thank all firefighters who risk their lives to keep our community safe. Water access is critical for public safety and firefighting. When used to fight fires, water helps with heat absorption and oxygen displacement preventing a spread to surrounding areas.

We’re excited to share that proposed updates to our enabling legislation (Chapter 178), which defines our mission, powers, and membership, will be presented to the Legislature’s Environmental Committee tonight at 6:05 PM.

Location: Legislative Chambers, 11 New Hempstead Road, New City, NY.

These revisions are an important step forward. Approval will allow us to formally onboard our members, hold our first official meeting, and begin developing our work plan to support long‑term water management for our community.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as this process moves ahead!

And as a bonus: We’ll have a limited supply of FREE water‑conservation incentives available as we kick off the spring planting season, pick one up while supplies last!
