: On Friday night, PLRFAS’s Friday crew, alongside PLPD and PLVFD, responded to a reported ATV accident several miles into the woods. Two EMTs from Friday’s crew (pictured: Diego) were transported in by PLVFD’s Quad Squad to quickly assess and stabilize the patient. The third EMT remained at the roadside to maintain communication between the crew in the woods and ALS, as well as coordinate and request additional resources as needed.
During the call, the crew utilized our “Rapid Response” backpack, a red backpack carried on each of our ambulances, set up for calls where our ambulance isn’t easily accessible and our EMTs need to stay hands-free. The bag carries essential equipment from our primary jump bags, including bleeding control supplies, airway equipment, and other critical patient care tools.
The patient was then carefully extricated from the woods in a Stokes basket while being continuously monitored by our EMTs before being transferred to the ambulance for further care.
Great teamwork by all agencies involved to safely bring the patient out of a challenging environment. 🚑🚓🚒
THIS IS WHY POMPTON LAKES HAS SUCH AWESOME EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDERS. ALL THREE DEPARTMENTS, PLPD, PLRFAS AND PLVFD WORKED VERY WELL TOGETHER TO ENSURE A POSITIVE RESULT. The actual retrieval took place in Wanaque, and Wanaque emergency services were also on scene.
