Thanks to the Elks Club for hosting an engaging Flag Day ceremony yesterday! Members of the Pompton Lakes Democratic Club enjoyed the event, including inspiring essays by fifth grade students on the meaning of service in community and closing remarks by County Commissioner and PLDC member Mike Ramaglia.

We are proud to stand with our own Rep. Nellie Pou and Senator Andy Kim, who have both visited Delaney Hall and are actively fighting to improve conditions and close this facility.

Delaney Hall is a privately run ICE detention center in Newark holding nearly 1,000 people — many of whom report being denied adequate food, medical care, and basic human dignity. Our elected officials are doing their part. Now it’s our turn to back them up.

Now in its ninth year, this scholarship awarded by the PLDC recognizes outstanding student volunteerism, reflecting Millie’s legendary service to Pompton Lakes.
