Help Us Build a Place Where Hope Can Thrive

In April 2024, we launched A Path Forward Inc. with a simple but powerful mission: to empower individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness by addressing immediate needs while creating a path toward long-term self-sufficiency. Through compassion, education, and opportunity, we are committed to restoring hope and changing lives.

Today, we have exciting news—we have been blessed with the donation of a building that will become the future home of our Day Center. This incredible gift brings us one step closer to making our vision a reality. Before we can open our doors, however, the building needs significant renovations to become a safe, welcoming, and functional space for those we serve.

Our Goal: $75,000

We are launching a $75,000 fundraising campaign to begin—and, with your support, hopefully complete—the renovations needed to open our doors. Every dollar raised will go directly toward transforming this building into a place of hope, healing, and opportunity for those in our community who need it most.

Our Most Urgent Need
The building’s roof must be replaced before any other work can begin. A secure roof is essential to protect the building and allow the rest of the renovation work to move forward.
How You Can Help
We are seeking financial donations, building materials, skilled tradespeople, businesses, churches, and volunteers willing to help us transform this building. We currently need assistance with:
Roof replacement (our highest priority)
Interior demolition and rebuilding
Drywall installation and repairs
Electrical updates
Plumbing repairs and upgrades
HVAC installation or repairs
Flooring
Painting
Lighting
Bathroom renovations
Shower installation
Appliances
Landscaping and exterior improvements
Whether you can give financially, donate materials, volunteer your time, or provide professional services, every contribution brings us one step closer to opening our doors.

What Our Day Center Will Provide
Once completed, our Day Center will be a safe, welcoming place where individuals and families can access critical resources and support, including:
Hot showers and hygiene facilities
A daytime warming and cooling center
Community outreach and case management
Drop-in services
Distribution of donated essentials and voucher programs
State benefits navigation
Employment assistance and job readiness training
Housing resources and referrals
Basic life skills classes
A safe place where individuals can find hope, support, and encouragement
Why It Matters
For someone experiencing homelessness, something as simple as a hot shower, a safe place to rest during the day, or help finding employment can be life-changing. This building represents far more than bricks and mortar—it represents dignity, opportunity, and a fresh start.
With your support, we can transform this donated building into a place where lives are rebuilt, families are strengthened, and hope is restored.
Every donation, every volunteer hour, every donated material, and every prayer brings us one step closer to opening our doors.
Together, we can build more than a building—we can build hope. Please consider making a donation and sharing our mission as we work to raise $75,000 and create A Path Forward for those who need it most.

We officially have a building! It needs a lot of work but what matters is it’s a starting point to a goal we have wanted to meet since we started. 😭🥰

Huge THANK YOU to Jessica and Josh with Stolhand Wells for making this donation. It means more than you could ever know. ❤️

We will be needing volunteers for clean out and any ideas on companies that would be willing to donate time to help get it together are appreciated. We will need A LOT of help but it will be totally worth the work. 🙌🏻

Success Story Time ❤️

My name is Michael Sean, and for six long years, the streets of Ponca City were my home. I was completely lost in the grip of addiction and alcoholism, enduring the freezing winters and scorching Oklahoma summers. I know firsthand what it feels like to be cold, hungry, and hopeless. Back then, organizations like A Path Forward and the Ponca City Noon Lions Club were a literal Godsend to me. Whether it was a safe, warm place to stay in the winter where families and pets could find shelter or a cold bottle of water from a hydration station in the summer, those small acts of compassion kept me alive.

The turning point in my life came through a raw, honest conversation with a dear longtime friend named Misti Scott at Bridgeway. She looked at me and told me the hard truth: "If I didn't make a change, I was going to die out on those streets". After that talk, I went and got high, but the joy was gone. Her words just kept replaying over and over in my head. A week later, I walked into Bridgeway weighing 122 lbs. and completely broken mentally with tears rolling down my face and asked for help.

That choice started a long journey of hard work. I went through treatment at Catalyst, spent a month at an Oxford House in Enid, and eventually moved back home to Ponca City into the Kaw Springs Oxford House in February of last year. I was actively looking for work, but things were tight, and by April, I was facing a crisis. I was about to lose my place in the house because I couldn't pay my rent. I was right on the edge of being right back on the streets.

That is when I reached out to A Path Forward. They didn't just offer words. They stepped up and provided the funds to pay my rent, keeping a roof over my head when I needed it most. That stability changed everything.

Today, my life looks completely different. I am now renting my own home for me and my dogs. I am employed full-time at Little Caesar's and I am still doing the work on myself, taking outpatient classes at Bridgeway and working "The Journey Begins" step study at Celebrate Recovery. I am also actively writing two books. One a book of poetry focusing on my addiction and recovery and the other a memoir of my life and legacy. And on the weekends, I have the absolute privilege of chairing the Saturday and Sunday 7:00 PM PB4P Narcotics Anonymous meetings, helping others find the same freedom I found.

Just the other day, I was able to buy seven cases of water out of my own pocket to donate to the hydration stations being put out by A Path Forward and the Ponca City Noon Lions Club. Standing there in my yard talking to Amanda Scott as she picked up the water, I realized my journey had come full circle. A Path Forward helped save my life when I had nothing, and today I am blessed enough to help them save someone else's.

Recovery is possible. Change is possible. And to anyone out there still struggling on the streets of Ponca City, don't give up hope. There is A Path Forward.

We want to thank you for sending us your story to share. Stories like this give hope to those who have none. We are so glad to be able to be a part of your success as much as we were your struggle. Thank you for giving back and thank you for not giving up 💕
