🌟 Volunteer of the Month: Janet! 🌟

For about two years, Janet has spent her Fridays at NERA helping neighbors shop for groceries and taking time to listen to their stories.

After a long career in education, Janet is now enjoying her second year of retirement, and we're fortunate that volunteering at NERA has become part of her routine. She says she especially enjoys getting to know the people she helps and has been impressed by how carefully our neighbors shop and work to make their resources last.

When she's not at NERA, Janet enjoys gardening, sewing Christmas pajamas for her grandchildren, and visiting her five children who live in different states.

When asked whether she would encourage someone else to volunteer at NERA, Janet didn't hesitate: “Definitely. It’s a good place to be.”

This position will work directly with our neighbors, provide guidance and referrals, stay connected with local nonprofits and community resources, and oversee purchasing and food orders that keep NERA's programs stocked.

We're looking for someone who is

✅ comfortable balancing people-focused work with budgets, purchasing, and program responsibilities.
