Earlier today, officers responded to the 1100 block of North 14th St to a reported burglary. The burglary is believed to be part of a continuing argument between multiple individuals that began the previous evening. One individual was injured when they were assaulted during the burglary and that person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

We’ve seen multiple social media comments stating there were shots fired and multiple people were injured as a result of those gun shots. These comments are simply untrue. No one was shot, no one was shot at, no fi****ms were used during this incident and no one is deceased as a result of what happened.

Once again, our Communications Officers deliver when it matters most.

Friday morning, dispatch received a call for a medical issue, which happens quite often in a town this size. Dispatch Supervisor Aaliah Johnson and Dispatcher Samantha (Sam) Elliott answered the phones. Even though they get thousands of calls every year, they never stop caring and they never stop working for the citizens who need them most.

We received this message from a citizen who was very appreciative of their hard work. Excellent job, ladies! We appreciate your effort.

“Hey, I’m not sure who the dispatcher was who took my call this morning when my mom was found unresponsive, but could you please pass on my gratitude to her. My dad panicked and called me instead of 911, so I called, not being there and having limited information. She got what she needed from me fast and had my dad on the line before the ambulance even arrived, so if she had ended up needing to talk him through CPR, she could have. Super quick and concise work in a critical situation and my family and I are very grateful.”

We get a lot of helpful insight and opinions from our valuable fans. So, in the spirit of giving back (and educating) we’d like to clear something up that we get the absolute sweetest messages about.

Here goes…

The Ponca City Police Department and the City of Ponca City do not own, lease, maintain, control, possess, rely on, manage, govern or operate FLOCK cameras or any other brand, make, or model of LPR Cameras. In addition, and most importantly, we have not budgeted for, planned for or begun the process of obtaining FLOCK Cameras or any other such camera system.

We understand times are tough and everyone needs someone to be mad at. Please don’t be mad at us about FLOCK Cameras though. We don’t have any.

Be mad that it’s like August 68th and the temperatures continue to hover somewhere between magma and the surface of the sun. Be mad at how the Soprano’s series ended. Be mad that your avocados are green one day and shriveled to the consistency of prunes the next day. That’s worth being mad about. Not our nonexistent FLOCK Cameras.

Have a great weekend. Remember, it’s ok to log out of your social media and it’s certainly ok not to believe everything you read.
