On August 2026, detectives with the Ponchatoula Police Department began investigating several storage unit burglaries in the northeast area of the city.

Last week, 43-year-old Nicole Crum and 43-year-old Adam Traylor were arrested in connection with the burglaries.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for 28-year-old Breanna Mulkey and 43-year-old Matthew Morrow. (Pictured below)

Breanna Mulkey and Matthew Morrow are believed to be traveling in a gold colored pickup truck in the area of Roseland, LA.

The Ponchatoula Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this individual regarding a theft at the Ponchatoula Tractor Supply.

He was last seen leaving the scene in a white jeep with tinted windows.

On July 14, 2026, the Ponchatoula Police Department responded to Walmart regarding a request for assistance from store employees.

Further investigation revealed that as 31-year-old Jonquelle Robinson attempted to steal items from within the store, she was confronted by asset protection personnel. As the employee followed her outside while calling the police, 32-year-old Marguarette Seymore became irate and threatened the employee while displaying a handgun.

Responding officers located the suspects attempting to leave the area in a vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed (2) AR-15 style weapons along with the handgun believed to have been used in the crime. Both suspects were charged accordingly.

Marguarette Seymore (pictured below) was taken into custody for charges related to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (Felony).

Child Death Investigation

On July 10, 2026, the Ponchatoula Police Department began investigating the death of 3-year-old Jahcari Kash James after officers were called to a residence in the area of Methvin Lane.

At this time, detectives believe the child exited his family’s residence and entered an unlocked vehicle parked nearby. After family members discovered that the child was missing, they solicited help from neighbors to search the area.

A short time later, the vehicle owner located the child in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, where temperatures were extremely high. The child’s family members attempted life-saving measures while awaiting the arrival of emergency services.

The child was transported by ambulance to North Oaks Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing. No further details will be released at this time.

On July 7, 2026, Ponchatoula Police Department responded to a theft at Mother Mulberry’s Market. Officers learned Jayce Billiot, a booth vendor at Mother Mulberry’s Market, was stealing merchandise from fellow booth vendors. The thefts were observed on surveillance video of Jayce Billiot stealing items from multiple vendors. After the investigation, a warrant was signed by a judge for the arrest of Billiot.

On July 9, 2026, Jayce Billiot was arrested for theft and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail.

All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Chief Layrisson reports that on Friday night at approximately 8:35pm, Officers were advised of two four-wheelers that were being operated carelessly on the roadway near E. Oak Street. A traffic stop was conducted and both drivers, a 26 and 27 year old, were issued a citation for " Off-road Vehicles; Permits for use on Shoulders and Highways", and both four-wheelers were towed.

Chief Layrisson wants to remind citizens that four wheelers are not allowed on the roadway.

We have been made aware that there are scam callers using our phone number and posing as the Ponchatoula Police Department. They are even using the name of one of our Detectives. We will never call and threaten to arrest you for a crime or ask for money. Please do not engage in these calls or send money to anyone.
