It was a proud day for Pontiac as we cut the ribbon on 240 W. Wilson Ave., touring this brand new 4-bedroom house to city officials, faith leaders, public school staff and members of our Homebuyer Education course. This marks the first completed build of 100 Homes for Pontiac.

And we’re just getting started. Our program will see a diverse lineup of single-family home models constructed across two neighborhoods this summer.

Stay tuned to this page and our website as we plan to announce where we’re building next in the coming weeks. Want more information on 100 Homes for Pontiac? pontiachousingmi.com/100homespontiac/

Two years ago today, we moved Jamillyah Palmer and her children into a newly renovated home on Ivy Street as a renter.

This Mother’s Day, she is now the proud owner of that very home, her first, and one that has made all the difference.

Ms. Palmer closed on the property last week, bringing her mother along for the momentous occasion. Below you will find scenes of this life-changing moment, and a few throwback photos to Mother’s Day 2024.

Moving onto Ivy Street facilitated an open door of new opportunities for Ms. Palmer. A new, full-time job to pay the mortgage. Access to wrap around services that have enabled one of her communication challenged children to be able to speak. Neighbors who she’s built a community with. An opportunity to build generational wealth for her and her family.

A place to really call Home.

This house once stood on the demolition list. Now, it stands full of life and community. This is what it means to turn empty lots into thriving blocks.

We hosted a small clean up event at 40 Pinegrove St., the second of our 100 Homes for Pontiac builds. And in true Pontiac style? The neighborhood put on their work gloves, loaded up wheel barrows and hauled yard waste and old furniture down the street to our roll-off dumpster. Our city is a constant reminder that one good act always inspires another. Thanks to the neighbors for coming out!
