The House has just adjourned for the 2026 Spring Session, this time after a marathon day and through the overnight hours, at 4:30 a.m. Once again, Democrats have passed the largest state budget in history. Please read my statement on the budget at my website.

As Illinois ratepayers face rising energy costs, Illinois Democrats continue doubling down on unreliable green energy policies that are driving up utility bills for working families. House Republicans have filed numerous bills focused on keeping reliable energy sources like natural gas and coal operating in Illinois to strengthen grid reliability and help lower costs for consumers.

I discussed the consequences and potential fallout of HB 4471, which was passed yesterday by the House Gun Violence Prevention committee. HB 4471 would implement a de facto ban on the sale and manufacture of certain G***k pistols in Illinois.

Democrats' G***k Ban (HB 4471) passed out of committee last night as they continue to target Second Amendment rights in Illinois. House Republicans voted against the measure, and we will continue to fight against this back door gun grab.

Statewide, more than half of Illinois corn and soybeans have been planted. Please continue to be patient on the roadways and give farmers plenty of space as they move large equipment during this planting season.

Corn planting is on pace with the five-year average, while soybean planting is ahead.
