The School Maintenance Project Grant (SMPG) is a dollar-for-dollar state matching grant program that will provide awards up to $50,000 to grantees, exclusively for the maintenance or upkeep of buildings or structures for educational purposes. The application period opens on September 28.

Despite Governor Pritzker’s claim that he has a “record of fiscal responsibility," a recent state audit found that an Illinois agency paid a staffing firm $78.5 million for contractors who were not actively working. Illinois taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going and that every dollar is being spent responsibly. House Republicans will continue pushing for greater accountability and transparency in state government.
