On April 24th, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow’s ability to produce healthy blood cells. Since my diagnosis, I have undergone chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and platelet transfusions. My next step is a bone marrow transplant.
A transplant could give me the chance to heal, but it is only possible if a matching donor is found. For many patients with blood cancer, finding a match is difficult especially for people from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds. Joining the bone marrow donor registry could give someone like me a second chance at life.
I am sharing my story to raise awareness and encourage you to register as a potential donor. The process is simple, and if you are ever identified as a match, your donation could save a life.
Please join the bone marrow donor registry today, share this message with your family and friends, and help me find my match. You could be the person who gives me and another patient in need the gift of life. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support as I continue this fight. ❤️🙏🏾
