The Oakland County Incident Management Team is an All-Hazards IMT made up of Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, as well as Public and Private Partners from Oakland and our surrounding counties. Under the supervision of Oakland County Emergency Management, OCIMT responds to a wide array of incidents and planned events throughout Southeast Michigan. gan, OCIMT responds to larger incidents state-wide when requested. Type of Incidents may include:
- Natural disasters, e.g., hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, etc.
- Terrorist incidents
- Train derailments, aircraft incidents, and other large/complex accidents
- Public event requiring the cooperation and joint participation of two or more
agencies or jurisdictions
- Coordination of on scene operations
- Management and coordination of efforts
- Procedures for assigned functional areas
- Development and modification of an IAP

takes us back only two weeks! From July 22-28, OCIMT Team Coordinator & Incident Commander Andrew Zaccagnini, and OCIMT Planning Section Chief Trainee Martin Cook worked alongside Northwest Incident Management Team 2 on the Rowe Creek Complex Fire near Spray, Oregon. This is the first deployment of its kind built on a partnership between OCIMT & NW Team 2 the aims to provide additional training and experience to OCIMT members through deployments to larger incidents, with federal IMTs.

Both members greatly enjoyed the opportunity and gained significant experience through the work on such a large incident. As wildfire season continues to build, other members of OCIMT will join NW Team 2 on additional deployments throughout the year. Partnerships like these give team members invaluable experience and training that can not be replicated through our standard process, on incidents far larger than OCIMT could normally handle. During the deployment, the Rowe Creek Complex had burned nearly 300,000 acres, had more than 1,500 resources assigned to it, and had an over 120 member Incident Management Team supporting and leading the response. A fun fact, at more than 120 members, the IMT managing this incident was more than twice the size of the current full roster for OCIMT.

Team Coordinator and Incident Commander Andrew Zaccagnini (left) and Captain Martin Cook (right) have been hard at work for the past few days on the Rowe Creek Complex fire in Oregon. They are imbedded with Northwest Incident Management Team 2 working along side their team to gain training and experience managing major incidents. The Rowe Creek Complex has burned almost 210,000 acres and has nearly 1400 personnel assigned to work the fire.

Oakland County IMT has deployed two members in a training capacity with Northwest Team 2 on the Rowe Creek Complex Fire in Oregon. OCIMT extends our sincere appreciation to NW Team 2 for developing this partnership and welcoming our members onto their incident. Team members arrived on 7/22 and will return home on 7/28.

Auburn Hills, Michigan, May 10, 2026 – Earlier this morning, at about 1:30 am, a major water main burst within the City of Auburn Hills. This water main is a Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) 42” transmission line located within the city’s River Woods Park (Squirrel Rd. south of M-59). Emergency personnel and city staff immediately responded to the scene of the break, which caused significant flooding within the park and on Squirrel Rd. GLWA was able to shut off water to this section of the main transmission line and water was able to be drained from the road. Emergency personnel confirmed that no one was injured during this incident. Squirrel Rd. was temporarily shut down for a period of time but has since re-opened to traffic. River Woods Park will remain closed until further notice while GLWA completes the necessary repairs.

GLWA is a regional supplier of municipal water in Auburn Hills, particularly in the north end of the city. Due to the nature of this water main break the City of Auburn Hills has declared a State of Emergency. Residents and businesses shall only use water for emergency purposes. For all areas within the city limits, north of Taylor Road, water is currently being supplied by a municipal water tower, however this may not last until repairs are completed. In this area of the city, water may eventually run out. For areas south of Taylor Road the use of water for emergency purposes only is also in effect, as alternative resources are being utilized to provide water in this area of the city.

A MANDATORY BOIL WATER ADVISORY has been issued for all areas of the City of Auburn Hills, north of Cross Creek Parkway/University Drive. Residents and water users should not drink the water without boiling it first.

GLWA will be providing potable water for residents at several locations, to include one location in Auburn Hills. Additional information, including the hours and location will be shared at the appropriate time.

All updates and further communication will be issued through a Joint Information Center established in coordination with the City of Auburn Hills, Orion Township, Village of Lake Orion, Oakland County, and GLWA. A media conference is scheduled today at 10am at the Orion Township Hall, located at 2323 Joslyn Rd., Lake Orion, MI.

EMERGENCY BOIL WATER ADVISORY:
Rochester Hills residents in the northwest portion of our community are now under a Boil Water Advisory as the once leaking Great Lakes Water Authority main in Auburn Hills has now broken.

Our system is currently stable because we switched into our emergency operational state, however the drop in pressure during that transition necessitates the Boil Water Advisory.

Effective immediately, the City of Rochester Hills is also issuing an emergency water restriction for ALL residents and businesses. Residents and water users should eliminate water use for non-necessary uses such as running dishwashers and washing machines, watering lawns, washing vehicles, filling outdoor pools, or other recreational water activities.

The above actions will help keep water available for all customers in the area, and adjacent cities and townships. You may experience reduced water pressure during this time.

The City of Rochester Hills will continue to monitor the water system, but this restriction will remain in effect until further notice. The City will advise when the proper conditions have been met and the restriction is lifted.

💧⚠️5/10, CRITICAL UPDATE - It is essential that the residents of Orion Township, the Village of Lake Orion, Rochester Hills, and Auburn Hills to restrict their water usage to only what is necessary for hydration, food preparation and basic sanitation for the duration of the emergency.

On Thursday, Oakland County IMT responded to the tragic attack at Temple Israel. Over the last few days our team provided support to local, state, and federal agencies with the response, investigation, and recovery.

While our team completed the demobilization process this morning, our hearts remain with the West Bloomfield and Temple Israel communities as you begin to heal.

More training?! Absolutely!

This week 20 members of OCIMT attended a three day training/exercise that focused on managing a major industrial fire. The focus on this was to slow down our process and focus on details of each step to build proficiency of our members.
