𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓: 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦

Today our office was contacted by a resident who received a call from a scammer in an attempt to gain money by claiming to have a warrant for their arrest because of missed jury duty. While scams like this have circulated for sometime, scammers have evolved into using highly sophisticated operations where fraudsters impersonate law enforcement, federal agencies, and court officials to terrify victims into sending large sums of money to satisfy their claim. Scammers can sound convincing and may use actual names of law enforcement and court officials or other information that appears legitimate. Scammers are going to great lengths to make their push seem real by using forged official documents, spoofed caller ids, and intimidation & "gag orders" by demanding that the victim stay on the phone continuously while the victim drives to a bank or to purchase other payment methods to satisfy the scammers claim.
This is intended to create panic and pressure you into sending money immediately. Scammers may also provide your real name along with other personal information about yourself to persuade you into their scam.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:

Law enforcement or court officials will never call you and threaten you with immediate arrest while demanding payment to resolve a warrant. We will not instruct you to purchase gift cards, prepaid cards, or other forms of payment at a retail store.
Do not provide personal or financial information and do not send or purchase anything they request.
If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from law enforcement or a court official, hang up and contact the agency directly using a phone number you know is legitimate.

Please share this post to help protect your friends and family from falling victim.

Twenty Five years later as this September 11th comes to a close, we pause to reflect on a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the brave first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans who made extraordinary sacrifices.

May we never forget the courage, compassion, and unity that emerged from the darkness. May we carry their memory forward not only today, but in the way we live, serve, and care for one another.

We remember. We honor. We carry their sacrifice forward.
