August 25, 2026:

Your Pooler Fire-Rescue firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Baynard Street for a possible building fire, caller advising smoke from the roof. Chief 601 requested Truck 202 from Garden City Fire Rescue to assist with aerial capabilities. Chief 603 arrived on scene to note smoke showing from the roof of a 2-story, single family dwelling and established command. Engine 601 deployed a handline to the attic where the fire was quickly contained. Battalion 601 arrived and assumed command, Chief 601, Engine 603, and Rescue 601 shortly thereafter.

While companies were arriving, a call for a possible fire was dispatched on Paladian Way. Resources were diverted from the Baynard call, including Engine 605, Battalion 601, Training 601 (EMS Captain), Engine 604, and Truck 202. Smoke was determined to be from an air handler, with no active fire.

It was a busy evening with multiple moving parts and numerous calls due to storms and routine emergencies. Thank you to Garden City for your assistance.

It takes a village

This week members from Pooler Fire-Rescue worked alongside members from Chatham County Fire Department, Statesboro Fire Department, and Perry Fire Department for the NPQ Swiftwater Technician course.

Thank you to Statesboro for offering to host the course and work with instructors from across the region to develop a greater level of collaboration to increase our technical rescue capabilities.

Next month, we will be collaborating again for Ropes 1 and 2 to help keep the momentum moving forward.

July 2026 Run Statistics:

The summer heat has been tough, but your Pooler Fire-Rescue firefighters are still here and pushing through the temperatures continuing to train and respond to emegencies.

Current response time average from the time the fire company receives notification of call to on scene is 5 minutes and 45 seconds.

July 2025 and July 2026 were both met with 573 calls for service, showing a net increase of 0% month over month, but we are still up at an annual percentage of 7.9% year over year.

As we get into the month of August and temperatures continue to remain high, do not forget to hydrate, try to stay cool, and don't forget to call us if you need us.

This evening (July 27, 2026):

Your Pooler Fire-Rescue firefighters were dispatched to assist Bloomingdale Fire Dept for a reported structure fire on Adams Road. Chief 601, Battalion 601, Engine 601, Engine 602, Truck 601, and Water Tender 601 assisted on scene. The fire was brought under control and all Pooler companies have been released.

Thank you so much to the guys from Garden City Fire Rescue who assisted with the fire, as well as the members of the public who donated water, Gatorade, and ice to help keep our firefighters cool and hydrated. Now happening:

Your Pooler Fire-Rescue firefighters are currently operating at a working fire in the 200 block of Pampas Drive. Assistance from Garden City Fire Rescue has been requested. Please avoid the area.

Companies Assigned: Engines 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 202. Trucks 601 & 202. Chief 601 and Battalion 601.

Today your Pooler Fire-Rescue firefighters responded for a small animal rescue. E602's crew arrived to find a cat inside a storm drain. The cat was inside the drain piping between two man hole covers. In order to remove the cat, the crew had to utilize a small diameter fire hose (forestry line) to get the cat to retreat to a place where he could be caught. The cat was not injured and removed from the storm drain. Strong work guys.
