The City of Pooler is paving the way for new streets!

While the hunter's ridge paving improvements finished earlier this year, Giving the area a much-needed resurfacing,

The City of Pooler is keeping that momentum going with a strategic road analysis citywide.

Approved by City Council in February, multiple city Vehicles have been equipped with sonar devices. These devices scan for imperfections and weak points in the road surface.

Vehicles are also equipped with motion devices called accelerometers to detect up and down inconsistencies in the road.

These systems combined with GPS tracking, will, over time, build a complete picture of Pooler's road network, helping City Staff maintain our roadways efficiently and effectively.

The several month long process of city wide fire hydrant testing and refurbishment is coming to a close. Workers went hydrant by hydrant across every fire service district in Pooler testing functionality and water flow.

As testing continued a map of each hydrant location was developed,
helping fire fighters know where the closest hydrants are no matter how they approach an incident.

Part of the process now is ensuring all hydrants have a new coat of bright yellow paint for easy identification, with the last step making sure each hydrant has proper clearance for easy access during an emergency.

On April 27, 2026 the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) declared a state-wide Drought Response Level 1

Georgia is currently experiencing dry conditions, and water conservation is more important than ever. As temperatures rise, outdoor watering and irrigation can significantly increase water usage, and your utility bill.

We encourage all customers to use water wisely and efficiently:
•Water early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation
•Check for leaks in sprinkler systems, hoses, and outdoor fixtures
•Adjust irrigation timers to avoid overwatering
•Only water when necessary
•Consider using efficient methods such as drip irrigation

Please remember that even small changes can make a meaningful impact during dry conditions.
For your convenience, you can monitor your water usage online and set alerts to help manage consumption at;

Thank you for doing your part to conserve water!
