During wildfire season, it's important to know the evacuation levels. An evacuation warning means "Be Ready" to evacuate and take steps to prepare. An evacuation order means "Go Now," and waiting to leave could put you, your family, livestock, pets, and first responders at risk. Prepare a "go kit" and an evacuation plan now to save precious time to respond.

A Heat Advisory has been extended up until 6 PM MDT Today for portions of NE Montana. Look for high temperatures once again into the 90s. Limit the time outdoors if possible and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest time of the day. The hot, dry, and breezy conditions may also raise fire weather concerns for this afternoon and evening. Relief from the hot 90 degree weather is expected this weekend, though the tradeoff will be increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms. In fact, a few thunderstorms are possible this evening after 5 PM, especially west of Glasgow and Jordan.

High pressure and southerly flow favor heat index values reaching the mid-upper 90’s F across the north-central U.S. during week-2, supporting a moderate risk of extreme heat. A risk of Rapid Onset Drought has been designated for parts of the Middle and Upper Mississippi Valley.

Know your risk and prepare in advance for severe spring weather. Create an emergency evacuation plan and a go kit. If you haven't already done so, sign up for local alerts with your county.
