Poplar Volunteer Fire Department We are an nonprofit volunteer service that provides fire suppression, prevention, and protection along with search and rescue services.

While firefighters were down at tonight's powwow celebration a member of the powwow security crew contacted one of our fire officers and said they found a large tree log and stump burning unattended west of the American Legion Park's Arena back in the brush line. Just a reminder to everyone we are still in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions! Thankfully the winds have calmed down this evening so the log on fire couldn't of spread through the dry brush and towards all the campers and vendors.

The Courier can confirm a fire at Fort Peck Dam as well as a county-wide power outage. We have reached out to Northwestern Energy for comment.

The Valley County Sheriff’s office confirmed “some kind of explosion” at a power house at Fort Peck Dam. They do not yet know what caused it or how bad it is, though one source close to the fire department said it is “not good”
