It is with deep sadness that the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the passing of retired Major Andrew “Andy” LeBlanc.

Andy dedicated more than 40 years of service to the citizens of West Baton Rouge Parish, serving with honor, integrity, and distinction. Known for his friendly smile and kind heart, he never met a stranger and remained a familiar face at the Sheriff’s Office even after retirement.

On behalf of Sheriff Jeff Bergeron and the entire West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Andy’s family and friends. We are grateful for his service and the lasting impact he made on our agency and community.

Rest easy, Major LeBlanc. Your service and legacy will not be forgotten.

Over the past five weeks, 16 citizens from throughout West Baton Rouge Parish had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office through a hands-on and interactive experience designed to provide insight into the daily operations of your sheriff’s office.

Participants learned about various divisions within the agency, gaining firsthand knowledge of the work our deputies and staff perform each day to serve and protect our community. The final session concluded last night with presentations from our Posse, Flotilla, and Narcotics Division.

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron stated, “Our Citizens Academy gives residents the opportunity to better understand the responsibilities, challenges, and dedication of the men and women who serve this parish every day. We appreciate each participant for being part of this first class, and we look forward to continuing the program in the future.”

This morning, Cpl. Peffers and Cpl. Dupuy of our Traffic Division had the honor of escorting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation – Steel Across America as it traveled through Baton Rouge.

The convoy carries a piece of steel salvaged from the South Tower of the World Trade Center following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, honoring the lives lost and the sacrifices made by our nation’s first responders.

WBR 4-H has partnered with the WBR Sheriff’s Office to promote ATV safety in our parish.

We’re offering multiple ATV Safety Trainings for youth, where participants will learn safe riding skills. Each participant will also receive a FREE helmet, safety glasses, and gloves!

Let’s all work together to keep our youth safe.

This morning, Sheriff Jeff Bergeron was honored to provide lunch for the West Baton Rouge Council On Aging as they celebrated Older Americans Month at the Erwinville Community Center.

We are proud to support and recognize the seniors in our community and appreciate the important work of the West Baton Rouge Council on Aging.

A special thank you to the student-athletes from Port Allen High School for their assistance in serving lunch.

This past Thursday, our Citizens Academy Cadets enjoyed an informative session on the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) and the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, in law enforcement.

SRT members shared an overview of the unit’s capabilities and operations, along with details on WBRSO’s drone technology, its field applications, and required training standards.

The evening wrapped up with a hands-on interactive session where cadets visited stations, spoke with team members, and learned about their specialized roles and equipment.

This week marks the final class of our inaugural Citizens Academy — a proud milestone!

On this Memorial Day, Sheriff Jeff Bergeron and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Today, we remember their courage, reflect on their sacrifice, and express our deepest gratitude for the freedoms they helped protect.

We will never forget.

𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron reports that this morning, just after 12:30 a.m., deputies with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division responded to a local convenience store on Lobdell Highway in reference to a robbery investigation. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of 27-year-old Harley Jordan of Gordo, Alabama.

During the investigation, deputies learned that a white male entered the store and handed the cashier a note indicating that he was armed with a gun and demanding money from the register.

Investigators learned that the clerk was unable to open the cash register. Jordan then grabbed a piece of bubble gum and attempted to purchase the item in an effort to have the register opened. The clerk refused the transaction, and Jordan exited the store with the bubble gum.

Deputies were able to identify the suspect vehicle and later learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Gordo, Alabama. Through the course of the investigation, and in coordination with the Gordo Police Department, deputies were able to positively identify Harley Jordan as the suspect.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, Jordan was arrested by the Chambers County Sheriff's Office - Texas, following a traffic stop. Jordan was booked into the Chambers County Jail and will be extradited back to West Baton Rouge Parish, where he will be booked on the following charges:

• First Degree Robbery
• Illegal Possession of Stolen Things

**All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty**
