Heads up, drivers!
The westbound side of the US 190 Old Mississippi River Bridge will be closed starting Friday, August 28 at 7pm through Tuesday, September 1 at 12pm.

⚠️ Note: The I-110 SB ramp from LA 408 (Harding Blvd) to US 190 WB will also be closed during this period.

𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron reports that on Sunday, August 23, 2026, around 11:00 p.m., two subjects, one of whom was wearing a mask and the other wearing a hooded sweatshirt, arrived at a residence along the 7000 block of Rosedale Road, where they forced entry into a garage and stole two dirt bikes.

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron announces the deployment of additional lifesaving equipment to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division.

This past week, WBRSO equipped each Uniform Patrol shift with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), providing deputies with another critical tool when responding to medical emergencies.

Deputies are often among the first to arrive at the scene of a medical emergency. An AED can be used to assess a person experiencing cardiac arrest and, when appropriate, deliver an electrical shock to help restore a normal heart rhythm.

In addition to AEDs, WBRSO deputies are equipped with NARCAN (naloxone), which is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. While Narcan addresses an opioid overdose, an AED can be critical if an overdose or other medical emergency results in cardiac arrest.

Sheriff Jeff Bergeron said, “Our deputies are often the first ones on scene during a medical emergency. Having AEDs in our patrol units gives them another lifesaving tool that can make a difference during those critical moments. Combined with the availability of Narcan, our deputies are better equipped to respond when every second counts.”

Over the past several months, the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken a significant step forward in modernizing the technology that supports our daily operations.

WBRSO is now live on a new Report Management System and Jail Management System, providing our deputies and staff with modern tools designed to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and better support their day-to-day responsibilities.

The new system also provides enhanced access to information and data, allowing WBRSO to better identify crime trends, monitor agency activity, make informed decisions, and evaluate operations in real time.

“Investing in technology is an investment in our deputies and in the future of this agency,” said Sheriff Jeff Bergeron. “Our deputies and staff deserve the best tools available to do their jobs effectively, and our community deserves an agency that continues to evolve with the times. While improvements like this may not always be visible to the public, they have a direct impact on how efficiently we operate and how effectively we serve the citizens of West Baton Rouge Parish.”
