Monday Night Pickleball has officially been put on pause due to the Louisiana heat! But it will return in September so don't hang up your paddles for the long haul!

The Louisiana heat is undefeated! ☀️🥵

We're putting Monday Night Pickleball on pause until September when cooler weather returns. Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer!

FYI, here is the weekly update from West Baton Rouge Mosquito Control

Good Monday afternoon. Last week, we submitted 31 mosquito samples to the LSU Disease Diagnostic Lab for testing; none tested positive for disease.

Heavy rain events have led to an uptick in floodwater mosquito activity. Consequently, parish-wide spray truck operations begin tonight and will continue through Wednesday night (weather permitting).

All parish parks and recreation facilities will also be sprayed this week. Click on the map link for location details. Check back for updates, and remember to be a Skeeter Be**er!

Chasiti, our Accounting Clerk, has been a valued member of the West Baton Rouge Parish Government team for the past 7 years!

In her role, Chasiti helps ensure that day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and remain compliant with the parish's utility department. She assists residents with inquiries regarding utility bills while maintaining confidentiality in all financial transactions.

Chasiti shares that learning about the parish over her years of work has been rewarding, as she's also gotten to know the people who live in her community. She takes pride in helping the parish and its residents manage such an important financial aspect of their lives so they can live comfortably here in West Baton Rouge.

A champion for equity and progress, A. Ralph Slaughter Sr. played a critical role in expanding educational opportunities for Black students during segregation and worked tirelessly to strengthen the community for future generations.
During the event, his son, A. Ralph Slaughter Jr., a nationally recognized civic leader, will share insights into his father's life, impact, and enduring legacy. Slaughter Jr. has built an impressive legacy of his own, earning recognition as one of Ebony Magazine's most influential African American leaders.
Together, the contributions of A. Ralph Slaughter Sr. and A. Ralph Slaughter Jr. reflect a lifelong commitment to community service, educational advancement, and expanding opportunities for African American residents. Their leadership has left a lasting impact on countless individuals and continues to inspire future generations.

West Baton Rouge Parish Government Offices Open for Normal Business Hours Thursday

West Baton Rouge Parish, LA — The West Baton Rouge Parish Government Offices will be open and operate under normal business hours on Thursday, June 18, 2026 despite the inclement weather expected to continue throughout this week.

Parish offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents in need of assistance during this weather event, can contact the parish at 225-383-4755.

As a reminder, eight sandbags’ locations remain available throughout West Baton Rouge for residents preparing for potential flooding. Sand and bags are provided; however, residents are asked to bring their own shovels.

West Baton Rouge Parish officials encourage residents to stay weather-aware, monitor local forecasts, and take the necessary precautions to protect their homes and property.

West Baton Rouge Parish is currently under a Flood Watch through Friday morning, with forecasts predicting 5–10 inches of rainfall across portions of Louisiana.

Residents are encouraged to help reduce flooding by clearing any nearby drainage areas that may be obstructed.

🚧 Please Note: Parish crews are actively monitoring and checking drainage ditches and canals throughout the week as heavy rainfall continues.
