A Stage 3 Water Shortage has been declared for the City of Port Angeles. Specific restrictions on outdoor water use are in effect for all properties connected to the City's water system:

💧Washing sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, patios, and other exterior paved areas by direct hosing, except as may be necessary to prevent or eliminate materials dangerous to public health and safety.

💧Escape of water through breaks or leaks within the customer’s plumbing or private distribution system for a period greater than 48 hours after the customer discovers the break or leak.

💧Non-commercial washing of privately owned motor vehicles, trailers or boats, except from a bucket or hose with shutoff nozzle for quick rinses.

💧Lawn sprinkling and irrigation which allows water to run off or overspray the lawn area.

💧Lawn sprinkling and irrigation between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Outside of those hours, sprinkling must occur on an ODD – EVEN rotation schedule. This means property addresses ending in odd numbers are permitted to sprinkle on odd numbered days, and property addresses ending in even numbers are permitted to sprinkle on even numbered days.

“Stage 3” occurs when flows on the Elwha River have not improved, necessitating a reduction in our water use. Since Stage 2 was declared on July 21, flows on the Elwha River have continued to decrease and are now below 300 cubic feet per second (cfs).

Excellent work, Tiffany!

08/18/2026. Life Saving Award to be presented. On 08/18/2026, the City of Port Angeles Police Department will be presenting the Life Saving Award to one of our Pencom 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicators at our City of Port Angeles City Council meeting at 6 pm tonight in chambers.

On 06/28/2026, PST Tiffany Lozano received a 9-1-1 call reporting a female patient down. Tiffany took immediate control of the call and recognized that telephone CPR (T-CPR) was needed. She started T-CPR instructions in 8 seconds of answering this call. She then performed T-CPR instructions for 11 minutes until an Elwha Officer arrived. This officer took over physical CPR from the caller, and within 6 minutes of his arrival, the medics from Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue arrived on scene, confirmed CPR, and delivered an AED shock to the patient. Shortly after the shock was delivered, the patient recovered a pulse. The patient was transported to the local hospital and was later transported to another facility.

The recommended standard for recognizing the need for CPR is within 90 seconds of receiving the phone call, and CPR should be delivered within 150 seconds. Tiffany's outstanding recognition, immediate initiation of T-CPR instructions, and eleven minutes of helping the caller remain focused while performing effective CPR are outstanding and deserving of this commendation.
