🚒 TRAINING NOTICE | WATER RESCUE TRAINING 🌊

Port Angeles Fire Department crews will be conducting water rescue training today as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the skills and readiness needed to respond to emergencies in and around our local waterways.

Today’s training is scheduled from approximately 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

During this time, community members may notice firefighters in the water, as well as an increased presence of fire department vehicles and ambulances in the training area. This is a scheduled training exercise and not an active emergency.

Regular hands-on training provides our crews with the opportunity to practice rescue techniques, strengthen teamwork, and remain prepared to respond safely and effectively when needed.

Thank you for your understanding as our crews continue to train, prepare, and stay ready to serve our community.

This year marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001,
a day that forever changed our nation and the lives of countless families and communities.

The City of Port Angeles has issued a proclamation recognizing September 11, 2026, as a Day of Remembrance in our community.

As a fire department, this anniversary carries profound meaning. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, airline crews, and civilians who lost their lives that day. We also honor the responders, recovery workers, service members, volunteers, and others whose courage and service continued long after September 11.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tremendous loss of that day, but the courage, compassion, service, and unity demonstrated in its aftermath.

We invite our community to join us next Friday on September 11th in remembering those who were lost, honoring those who answered the call to serve, and keeping their families and loved ones close in our thoughts.

We have been fortunate this year to have such a mild summer with several rainfall events, but the weather has taken a turn to hot and dry conditions for the foreseeable future.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, the City of Port Angeles reminds everyone to have a fun, safe, and responsible holiday.

🚫 Fireworks Are Prohibited Within Port Angeles City Limits

The use of personal fireworks is not permitted anywhere within the City of Port Angeles. We encourage everyone to enjoy the holiday by attending a public fireworks display or celebrating in other safe ways.

Please remember that illegal fireworks—including bottle rockets, firecrackers, missiles, and other explosive devices—are prohibited under Washington State law.

‼️Know the Law: Fireworks regulations vary depending on where you are in Clallam County:

➡️ Unincorporated Clallam County EAST of the Elwha River • Consumer fireworks may ONLY be discharged between 9:00 a.m. and midnight on July 4.
➡️ Unincorporated Clallam County WEST of the Elwha River • Consumer fireworks may be discharged during the times allowed under Washington State law.

🔥 Help Prevent Wildfires

With dry summer conditions and burn restrictions in effect throughout Clallam County, the risk of wildfire is high. Even a single spark can ignite a fast-moving fire, putting homes, businesses, forests, wildlife, and first responders at risk.

If fireworks cause a fire or damage property, you may be held both criminally and financially responsible.

🚑 Celebrate Responsibly
Leave fireworks to the professionals.
Keep 9-1-1 available for emergencies only.
Be mindful of neighbors, pets, veterans, and others who may be sensitive to loud noises.
If you see smoke or fire, call 9-1-1 immediately.

🔥🔥Effective today, June 24th, 2026 Clallam County has implemented the Annual Burn Ban.

The Burn Restriction applies to all outdoor burning except recreational fires used for pleasure, religious, ceremonial, warmth, cooking or similar purposes. Recreational fires are permitted unless further banned by extreme weather conditions.

Note: Recreational fires are limited to 3-feet in diameter and 2-feet in height. Fires for debris disposal are not legal under any circumstances and are not considered recreational.

If conditions arise the restrictions may be upgraded to a HIGH FIRE DANGER, this will prohibit all outdoor burning which includes recreational fires. The exception is within the Olympic National Park and other controlled campgrounds.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter EMTs Jake Hudson and Jesse Judd on successfully completing their probationary year with the Port Angeles Fire Department.

Over the past year, both Jake and Jesse have demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to serving the Port Angeles community. Completing a probationary year in the fire service is a significant milestone that reflects countless hours of training, hard work, and growth both on and off the emergency scene.

The Port Angeles Fire Department had the opportunity to recognize one of our own at the Footprinter Annual Officer of the Year Dinner held on Monday, May 11th.

Captain Michael Ingraham is the definition of a steady and consistent leader. He leads from the front, leads by example, and genuinely cares for the people he serves alongside every day. His commitment to his crew, this department, and our community reflects what true leadership looks like.

This recognition is long overdue and incredibly well deserved. We are proud to see Captain Ingraham honored for the impact he continues to make in this community, both on and off duty.
