PAISD students and staff will enjoy a three-day weekend in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

It’s Thursday, and at PAISD that means it’s time to show a little college, career, and military pride!

Our Marlins are representing pathways and possibilities today. Wearing college, career, and military shirts each Thursday is more than a fun tradition. It helps keep conversations about life after high school visible for our students at every grade level.

Our 5th grade Marlins are leading the way!

Each morning, they are helping welcome their fellow Marlins to school by greeting students with a smile and opening doors and gates as they make their way to breakfast at the Deep Blue Diner.

They are putting our Marlin Essentials into action by showing kindness, using good manners, helping others, and doing their part to make our school a welcoming place.

Our Cole Center Director decided to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what staff development at PAISD is really like...or perhaps what our staff occasionally wishes it were like!

Napping on the job? Dancing? Playing video games? Not exactly. This tongue-in-cheek “Mannequin Challenge” was created just for fun by some very good sports on our PAISD team.

In reality, our staff spent their professional development days learning, collaborating, planning, training, and preparing for our Marlins. But even when the work is serious, there’s always room for a little laughter along the way.

Thanks to Mr.Green for capturing a slightly less-than-accurate glimpse behind the scenes. 😂

Not only is it the first day of school, today is the first day of meal service ever in the Cole Center Deep Blue Diner. OES 5th grader Jackson B. was served the very first student meal in the Deep Blue Diner at breakfast this morning!

For the safety of our Marlins and your convenience, please avoid Station Street between Beach Street and Avenue C from 7:00–8:00 a.m. and 3:00–4:00 p.m. on school days as traffic can get especially busy during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

For parents and guardians using our drop-off/pick-up lines:

• Please make right turns only when entering or exiting the line. If you are approaching from the opposite direction, loop around the block rather than making a left turn or U-turn that could block traffic.

• When waiting in line, pull to the right side of the road and turn on your flashers.

• Please show Marlin P.R.I.D.E. by keeping neighborhood driveways and business entrances clear.

We appreciate everyone giving themselves a little extra time and helping us keep traffic moving safely. We especially appreciate your patience during the first few weeks of school as students, families, and staff settle into their new routines.

Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safer for our Marlins and our entire Port Aransas community!

School starts Monday, and that means our Marlins will once again be walking, biking, riding buses, and traveling to and from school each day!

As we begin a new school year, please help us keep our students safe by slowing down, staying alert, putting phones away, and watching carefully for children in and around our school zones.

And remember: when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, drivers must stop as required by Texas law. Take a moment to review the graphic for a reminder of when traffic in each direction must stop.

Marlin Essential #2 reminds our students to Practice Daily Responsibility. As adults, we can model that same responsibility behind the wheel.

Please give yourself a little extra time Monday morning, expect increased traffic around our campuses, and help us make the first day of school a safe one for every Marlin!

Chalkboards have gotten a few upgrades since some of us adults were in school!

Today, PAISD teachers spent time learning the ins and outs of our interactive classroom displays, otherwise known as the 2026 version of a chalkboard. No chalk dust, no erasers to clap outside, and a whole lot more possibilities!

The technology may have changed, but the goal hasn’t: great teachers using the right tools to make learning engaging, meaningful, and effective.

Just a few more days until these “chalkboards” have students gathered around them!
