We are aware of the strong odor many residents are smelling. We are investigating in an attempt to determine the source. PAFD as well as local refineries are conducting air monitoring. Those results are still showing safe levels at this time. Any change or further instructions will be promptly relayed to the public via STAN, social media, and the city’s website.

On this rainy, dreary day, let me give you something to look forward to!

We have a lot of great things coming up including National Night Out on Tuesday October 6th and Red Ribbon Week is October 23-31. And of course, our famously popular Trunk or Treat, exact date to be announced shortly.

So take September to settle into the back-to-school groove and get ready for a fun-filled awesome October. See ya there!

UPDATED: Our incoming emails have been fixed. Thank you for your patience.

We have been made aware that we are experiencing an interruption of our email services We have not been receiving emails from outside our organization since sometime over the weekend. The City of Port Arthur's Emergency Management staff continues to remain in contact with the National Weather Service and other pertinent agencies in order to stay informed on the current state of Tropical Storm Eduoard, and to be prepared accordingly.

The most recent information provided by the City is as follows:
🌧️ Tropical Storm Edouard Update
Tropical Storm Edouard remains near 40 mph, with significant strengthening now unlikely as the storm approaches the coast. Landfall is most likely between Sabine Pass and Cameron around midday or early this afternoon.
For Port Arthur, heavy rainfall and localized flooding remain the primary concerns. Rain will increase later this morning, with heavy rain possible this afternoon and tonight. Some areas could receive 5–7 inches of rain, depending on the storm’s final track.
⚠️ Stay weather aware, avoid flooded roadways and never drive through water. Turn around, don’t drown.

You can continue to reach our non-emergency line at 409-983-8600. Thank you for your understanding.

Our K9 Officers Jessup (w/ K9 partner Ranger) and Morrison celebrated National Dog Day a day early with a great group of home schooled students eager to learn all about the K9’s duties in law enforcement.

The students learned the various ways a K9 can assist police officers everyday and also be a vital resource to the community.

As usual, Ranger soaked up all the attention he could get (which is never enough) and was on top of his game for the presentation.

More than $1300 was raised for Special Olympics Texas at this year’s Tip-a-Cop, held at Texas Roadhouse last month. We want to thank everyone who participated, along with Officer Kahal, Officer Berry, Detective Barboza and Sgt. Green.

Collectively, almost $130,000 was raised from the 22 Texas Roadhouse locations in the East Region. That’s incredible!
