VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Do you have a desire to serve your community? Do you want to learn more about firefighting, fire safety and medical emergencies? If you answered yes to either of these questions ... NOW is the time for you to learn more and become a volunteer for the Rapids City Fire Protection District.

We are in need of volunteers will to learn and train with the best of the best! Our department is a close-knit family and we would love to talk to you if you have interest in the Fire Department or medical emergency services. This doesnt mean you have to run into a burning building .... this means we have volunteer positions that range from administrative/clerical to full blown Fire Fighter/EMT roles.

We have a standing meeting every Tuesday night at the Fire Station in Port Byron from 6pm to 730pm. Feel free to stop by for a visit and more information. Thank you in advance.

Local library staff recently learned how to stop a dangerous bleed. Another Stop the Bleed class will be offered to the public on Saturday, May 23 at River Valley District Library during Stop the Bleed month. Thank you to Casey's General Store for a $500 grant to buy Stop the Bleed kits for public spaces in upper Rock Island County.
