1952 Port Carbon Playground. Later renamed John L. Miller Playground. Activity on developing this playground began in 1947-48 when a group of community leaders came together to begin work on this park. Lawrence Riegel, Sr. from Cherry Street, headed this effort and by 1952 the playground was opened. Land was secured from the Reading Company and Liberty Oil Company.
