🇺🇸 Traffic Advisory – July 4 Independence Day Events 🇺🇸

Please expect temporary road closures and traffic delays on Saturday, Friday, July 4 during the Firecracker 5K and the Fourth of July & Baby Parade.

Firecracker 5K (8:00 AM): Portions of Mill, Pike, North Coal, Krebs, Valley, North, Oak, Spring, First, Washington, Main, South Coal, and Jackson Streets in Port Carbon, as well as Newbold, Tuscarora, Randolph, and East Bacon Streets in Palo Alto.

Parade (10:00 AM): South Coal, Jackson, Washington, Pike, and Mill Streets.

Please use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time. Roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Attention Port Carbon

Despite online rumors, all events scheduled for Port Carbon on the Fourth of July are on as scheduled.

A social media post reporting false information was getting some attention, and organizers just want to remind everyone that the events have NOT been cancelled.

Last Tuesday, June 2, 2026, I had the privilege of swearing in our newest part-time police officer, Matthew Cromyak.

The Borough Council and the Port Carbon Police Department are pleased to welcome Officer Cromyak to our community. We are confident that he will serve the residents of Port Carbon well.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Cromyak to the Borough and wishing him safety and success as he begins his service protecting our community.

We honor her service, sacrifice, and dedication to her community.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.
