Our donated Catalina 26 was sunk in hurricane Milton and we just raised it and are working on disposal. Drone footage taken during cleanup of the Charlotte Harbor Community Sailing Center and Port Charlotte Beach Park. The floating docks shown over by the boat ramp are specially outfitted so that we can safely transfer people from a wheelchair to a boat. We hope to retrieve and repair them.

I'm working on a post about the effects of Helene and Milton on the Sailing Center but first wanted to recall for a moment the way things were. This was just another picture on just another Wednesday, September 11, 2024. It turned out to be the last picture of that floating dock, at least until it is retrieved and rebuilt.

Cleanup day today, October 23, 20024 at the Sailing Center. The County is letting us in the gate at 8:00 am. The Center was flooded and damaged by hurricane Helene and we were putting the pieces back together when hurricane Milton came through and made a worse mess than before.
