Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) will help eligible Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood County residents stay cool during the summer months through the Summer Crisis Program, taking place July 1 through Sept. 30, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

Eligible households must be at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (e.g. $27,930 annual income/household of one; $57,750/household of four). For households with eight or more members, income is based on 60% state median income.

In addition to meeting income eligibility requirements, clients must also have a household member who is age 60 or older or has a documented medical condition, OR have a disconnection notice or disconnected utilities. The Summer Crisis Program is also available for households that are trying to establish new electric service.

Last year, GLCAP assisted 907 families in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood County through the Summer Crisis Program.

For more information about the Summer Crisis Program, visit Summer Crisis Program, or to apply, call 419-273-4212.

Thank you for the Sandusky Register for breaking down the changes that House Bill 186 made to the tax code. As always, please give us a call in the office with any questions.

Ohio homeowners will begin seeing changes to their property tax bills this year as House Bill 186 takes effect.

The newly enacted law will bring new tax credits, expanded homeowner exemptions and introduce limits on future school tax increases, providing financial relief for Ohioans:

Following this, Ottawa County auditor Jennifer Widmer recently informed community members about the changes: https://tinyurl.com/4xn7dyte

The second half tax bills for this year are being mailed out today July 7th, 2026 and will be due August 6th, 2026.
