Mayfly season is approaching.

This week Ohio Edison is turning the street lights off from Perry Street to State Street to help reduce the Mayflys from coming towards land, for they are attracted to light. Masses of Mayflys cause road hazards and unpleasant odor. Swarms of Mayflys peak in June and decline throughout the month of July.

The turn on date for the street lights will be determined once the decline of Mayflys is evident.
