This past month's training covered a couple very important topics the bridged the gap between fire, EMS and athletics.
We first had some special guests from Aspirus (Nicole and Sydney) to show us how to properly remove helmets and pads from injured football players. This focused on maintaining the patient's head/neck stability while minimizing movement and working with them as a team.
Then we moved into vehicle incidents involving patient extrication (the odds on favorite of the year...). Shown in the pictures were methods of gaining access to the patient and safe removal, which then leads into and finishes with extra practice with the tools on whatever is left.
Special thank you to Nieman’s Towing & Recovery for the vehicle and our friends at Saratoga Ems for joining us. And another very special thank you to Trinity Lutheran Port Edwards for the blessing and pizza for our drill night.
