The Claiborne County Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of former Sheriff Frank Davis, as well as the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department during this time of loss.

Sheriff Davis dedicated many years of his life to serving Claiborne County and made history through his leadership and commitment to public service. His impact on our county and the State of Mississippi will not be forgotten.

We honor his life, his service, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Sheriff Frank Davis. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family and the entire law enforcement community.

On Friday, August 21, 2026, at approximately 9:02 A.M., the Claiborne County Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed light smoke showing from inside the residence. Crews made entry through the front of the home, quickly located the fire, and successfully extinguished it before it could spread further.

Firefighters then conducted overhaul operations, checking the residence for remaining hot spots and ensuring the fire was completely extinguished.

The living room sustained significant fire damage, with additional smoke and heat damage throughout portions of the residence. Despite the damage, crews were able to contain the fire and the structure remains standing and largely intact.

Excellent work by all personnel involved in bringing the incident under control quickly and preventing further damage.

At approximately 9:44 p.m., the Claiborne County Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Williams Cir Ln.

Upon arrival, crews encountered visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the residence. The structure remained intact enough for firefighters to make entry, allowing crews to quickly begin an interior fire attack.

Firefighters worked aggressively to locate and extinguish the fire, followed by overhaul operations to check for any remaining hot spots and prevent rekindling.

The fire was successfully brought under control, and no injuries were reported.

We appreciate the dedication and teamwork of everyone involved in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.

🚨 INCIDENT & SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

On August 12 at approximately 10:30 a.m., our department responded to a reported house explosion at a residence on Evergreen Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found no visible smoke or active fire. After entering the residence, crews discovered significant damage inside the home, including Sheetrock that had been blown from the walls, primarily in the kitchen and bathroom areas.

Our investigation determined that a flammable substance had been sprayed inside the walls of the residence. Vapors from the substance were ignited by the pilot light of the water heater, resulting in an explosion that caused the interior damage.

Fortunately, the occupant was not injured. The gas supply had been shut off, and firefighters checked the residence to ensure there was no remaining or immediate hazard before clearing the scene.

⚠️ SAFETY REMINDER

Flammable liquids, sprays, and their vapors can ignite very easily when exposed to pilot lights, water heaters, furnaces, electrical equipment, or other ignition sources. Vapors can also travel into areas you may not expect before igniting.

Please do not use flammable materials inside walls, enclosed spaces, or near any possible ignition source unless the product is specifically designed for that purpose and all safety instructions are followed. When in doubt, contact a qualified professional.

This incident could have resulted in serious injury, loss of life, or a major structure fire. Thankfully, everyone was safe.

Stay safe and always treat flammable materials with caution.

The Claiborne County Fire Department was honored to receive a visit from the Silver Bells. They generously provided our firefighters with delicious chicken salad and, more importantly, shared their kindness, encouragement, and support.

We are truly grateful for community partners like the Silver Bells who take the time to recognize and appreciate the work of our first responders. Your thoughtfulness means more than words can express.

From all of us at Claiborne County Fire Department, thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your continued support. We are proud to serve a community that stands behind its firefighters.

The Claiborne County Fire Department is honored to share a heartfelt letter of appreciation received from a community member recognizing the outstanding service provided by Firefighters Hodges and Patrick.

After responding to assist a resident following the discovery of a dangerous gas leak in her home, our firefighters replaced smoke alarms, discussed home fire safety, reviewed an escape plan, and took the time to answer every question with compassion and professionalism. Their commitment helped provide reassurance during a very stressful situation.

We are incredibly proud of Firefighters Hodges and Patrick for representing our department with integrity, kindness, and dedication. We also extend our appreciation to Herring Gas Company, especially technician Steven, for his prompt response and professionalism in resolving the gas leak safely.

To the resident who took the time to write this thoughtful letter—thank you. Your words remind our members why they answer the call to serve.
