Senior Spotlight: Kaitlyn Nicole Banks

As we continue recognizing our outstanding 2026 4-H graduates, we're highlighting Kaitlyn Nicole Banks of Claiborne County 4-H.

A graduate of Port Gibson High School, Kaitlyn is continuing her educational journey at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

Kaitlyn has been a dedicated member of 4-H since 2016, beginning her journey at just 8 years old. One of her favorite memories was representing Mississippi in Washington, D.C., during the 4-H Ignite Program. She also enjoyed serving as a staff leader during the Alcorn State University 4-H GO GREEN Summer Day Camp, where she designed and led her own educational activity station for younger campers.

Through 4-H, Kaitlyn developed a passion for leadership, community service, and mentoring the next generation. She extends special thanks to Ms. Jerrie Jackson for her unwavering encouragement, dedication, and commitment to youth throughout her 4-H experience.

Her advice to younger 4-H members:
"Keep going. Stick with the program that helps you grow. Over the years, you will learn new things about yourself, make new friends, and discover many opportunities the world has to offer."

We are proud of all Kaitlyn has accomplished and wish her continued success as she begins this exciting new chapter at The University of Southern Mississippi. We can't wait to see all she will achieve.

Senior Spotlight: Calvineisha Nichole Barber

As we continue recognizing our outstanding 2026 4-H graduates, we're highlighting Calvineisha Nichole Barber of Claiborne County 4-H.

A graduate of Port Gibson High School, Calvineisha is continuing her educational journey at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where she plans to pursue a career as a registered nurse.

During her four years in 4-H, Calvineisha enjoyed participating in community service projects and working alongside fellow 4-H members to make a positive impact in her community. Through competitions, service activities, and hands-on learning experiences, she developed leadership skills while creating lasting friendships and memories.

Calvineisha says 4-H taught her the importance of responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, and believing in herself, even when stepping outside of her comfort zone. She extends special thanks to her family, Ms. Jerrie Jackson, and her fellow 4-H members for their encouragement, support, and inspiration throughout her journey.

Her advice to younger 4-H members:
"Never be afraid to try something new. Step outside of your comfort zone, stay positive, work hard, and enjoy every opportunity. 4-H is more than winning ribbons. It's about growing as a leader, making memories, and building friendships that last a lifetime."

We are proud of all Calvineisha has accomplished and wish her continued success as she begins this exciting new chapter at The University of Mississippi. We know she will continue making a positive difference in the lives of others.

One so dear to our Thompson Funeral Home family has transitioned…Raymond Coleman has heeded the call of Heaven’s open door on Friday, July 17, 2026. He was the son of Annie Laura Coleman and the late James Coleman; life partner of Edwene Davis Person; father of Jimmy Bernard and Shawana Coleman; brother of Danny (Patricia) Coleman, Ruby Lee (Michael) Thaxter, Barbara Jean Clark, Willie James Coleman, Billy Ray (Shelia) Coleman, Joyce (Raymond) Wilson, and Shelia (Calvin) Harris; grandfather of Dontavious, Marc, Shaquille, Jimmy and Brittney and he also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
