Pesticide Research Opportunity - As the need to produce food for a growing global population puts pressures on agriculture, the use of pesticides has also increased. Research is being conducted to determine ways to encourage the use of digital technologies, from iPhones to Internet-of-Things enabled devices by food producers. The use of these devices may be able to reduce the frequency and amount of pesticides being used by identifying pest lifecycles in real time based on crop and geographic location.

This study done by Robin Trent, is being conducted to determine what influences the decision to use digital technologies for pest management by farmers in Washington state.

Please take a few minutes (less than 5) to complete the survey geared to identify what influences the use of digital technology in pest management. If you meet the qualifications shown on this post, help identify what would encourage farmers to use digital technology to potentially reduce the amount and frequency of the application of pesticides on food crops.

Join us May 11th, 11am-12:30pm, at Bent Gate Farms, a diversified livestock farm in Port Angeles! See rotational grazing in action and learn how to implement it on your farm.

While Bent Gate Farms currently focus on cattle and pigs, historically they also raised sheep and poultry. Hear from farm owner Anna Swanberg about lessons learned over the years raising different species of animals and their choice to focus on pigs and cattle. This workshop will focus on why they rotationally graze their animals and what that setup looks like on their farm in practical terms.

This workshop is for people who raise livestock on pasture- beginner to advanced, farmers, small-acreage owners, or those interested in someday having livestock.

Sharing for Kitsap Farmers!

Dear Ag Partners (and 12s!),

As we begin to settle back in after that ICONIC Super Bowl win, we wanted to put another celebration on your radar.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026 (one month from today), KCAA will celebrate an awesome year for agriculture in 2025 by hosting our Annual Meeting. We’ll gather at the Eagles Nest Community Building at the Fairgrounds, starting with a potluck and social hour from 5:30–6:30 pm, followed by updates on our 2025 work and plans for 2026.

We’ll enjoy a guest speaker, giveaways, and plenty of opportunities for input and conversation throughout the evening. We’ll also share how we plan to continue advocating in 2026 - supporting agriculture, staying involved, and strengthening connections between our community and the farmers who grow our food.

We’d love to celebrate with you and hope you’ll be able to join us!

With muddy boots and big thanks,
- The KCAA Board of Directors
