Although foods produced under cottage food laws have traditionally been considered low risk, following cottage food laws, good manufacturing practices, allergen management, and control of food safety hazards is vital for ensuring a safe product. In this workshop series, you will learn about:
• Washington Cottage Food Laws
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Control of food safety hazards
• Hygienic zoning
• Proper food storage
• Allergen management and labeling, and best practices for preventing cross-contact
• Effective cleaning and sanitation programs

This beginner class is appropriate for farmers, 4Hers, and anyone who has (or dreams of having) a small dairy herd of their own.

Codling moth is a common pest in apple and pear orchards throughout the Pacific Northwest, but it can be managed using a robust Integrated Pest Management program.

WSU's Dr. Betsy Beers, Extension Entomologist, will discuss codling moth in western WA. The lifecycle and habits of the moth, and how to approach management using IPM principles and tools such as pheromone traps and growing degree days to get the best results will be covered, among other topics.

Coming this month, a two part webinar series with Dr. Don Llewellyn! Learn all about feeding your cattle: how their digestion works, nutritional requirements, supplementing feed economically, finishing with grain vs. with grass, and plenty of time for Q&A. Bring all your questions!

These classes are for small scale farmers, 4H and FFA students, and anyone interested in someday raising cattle.
