This weekend, the 146th Airlift Wing proudly celebrated excellence, leadership and service across our team.

We kicked things off with the Outstanding Airman of the Year Awards in Ventura, recognizing both enlisted Airmen and officers for their exceptional performance and dedication to the mission. Today, those same honorees received an additional moment of recognition when California National Guard Maj. Gen. Steven Butow personally coined each of this year’s winners — a meaningful reminder of the impact their work has across the wing and beyond.

We also marked an important milestone for the 146th as Col. Christopher Lutz officially assumed command of the wing during a ceremony at Channel Islands Air Guard Station, accepting the guidon from Maj. Gen. Steven Butow and stepping into leadership at a time of continued mission growth and readiness.

From honoring our top performers to welcoming new leadership, this weekend reflected the professionalism, pride and commitment that define the 146th Airlift Wing.

We Remember.

Today in front of the wing headquarters building the 146th Airlift Wing held a moment of silence to remember those who had fallen during the tragic attack on the World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001.

Afterwards, Airmen shared their personal reflections, where they were when the events unfolded, and expressed gratitude for those lost their lives in the pursuit of protecting others.

Both the Wing Commander, Col. Shawna Pavey, and the Deputy Commander, Col. Christopher Lutz stressed the importance of remembering the fallen and focusing on re-connecting Airmen to why they serve.
