Good Boy Gator!!! Yesterday our law enforcement partners with the Ventura County Sheriffs Office worked an investigation in our community and served a search warrant at a residence in Port Hueneme. PHPD Officer Tubbs and K-9 Gator assisted with the search. Gator’s assistance on the search led to the discovery of a significant amount of co***ne, ma*****na, psilocybin, amphetamines, and illegal pills with some suspected of containing fentanyl. They also secured ammunition for fi****ms and money from the search. Thank you Officer Tubbs and Gator and thank you to our partners with VCSO! Public Safety is Teamwork!!!

Get ready to touch, explore, and get behind the wheel! The City of Port Hueneme 5th Annual Touch-a-Truck event is returning to Hueneme Beach Park on Saturday, October 10th from 11am-3pm! This is a FREE community event that allows kids to see, touch, and learn about their favorite trucks or vehicles.

The City of Port Hueneme’s Public Works Yard is providing sandbags to residents who need them. Sandbags may be picked up during normal business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Public Works Yard is located at 700 E. Hueneme Road, with the entrance off Surfside Drive.
Please be prepared to fill your own sandbags. Sand, shovels and individual bags will be provided. Please take only what you need.
The latest National Weather Service forecast indicates that Hurricane Marie is expected to remain well offshore as it moves northwest, significantly reducing the potential for damaging winds or major flooding in our area. However, moisture from the storm may bring increased humidity and periods of mostly light rain from Sunday through Tuesday, with a small chance of thunderstorms on Sunday.
A Coastal Flood Advisory and High Surf Advisory are also in effect for Ventura County beaches from 6:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:00 p.m. Tuesday. Large waves, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion and flooding of vulnerable low-lying coastal areas may occur, particularly around high tide.
Residents are encouraged to remain prepared by placing sandbags where needed and making sure water has a clear path to nearby drains. City crews will also be checking drains and clearing obstacles ahead of the anticipated weather.

Aircraft activity to increase at Naval Base Ventura County

POINT MUGU, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2026) - Residents of Ventura County will notice increased aircraft activity and noise beginning Sept. 9 as Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) hosts large force test events.

Multi-service aircraft, surface vessels and unmanned systems will be participating, staging and launching from Point Mugu. Aircraft participating in the event will operate largely during regular airfield hours, but extended airfield hours will be required to support some test events. Operations are expected to last approximately two weeks.

Residents in Camarillo, Oxnard and Port Hueneme may experience increased noise levels during peak times (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

As part of the Bolker Drive Emergency Storm Drain Repair Project, a portion of the southern parking lot at Bolker Park will be temporarily closed beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4. The closure is expected to remain in place for several weeks. Please remove all vehicles from the designated area before the closure begins, as any vehicles remaining in the closed area may be towed. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience while this important repair work is completed.

Help protect our coast during the 42nd annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to noon! Volunteers at Hueneme Beach will meet at the Alaska Flight 261 Memorial, south of the Port Hueneme Pier, and join participants across California in removing trash and recyclables from beaches, waterways, and surrounding communities.

Last year, hundreds of volunteers at Hueneme Beach collected more than 2,500 pounds of trash and recyclables. Help us build on that success in 2026! Every item removed helps protect wildlife and prevent pollution from reaching the ocean.

Nominations are now open for the West Ventura County Business Alliance 2026 Business Awards! The annual awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses making a positive impact throughout our region.

This year, WVCBA is introducing the Port Hueneme Legacy Award, which will honor an outstanding individual whose long-term dedication has made a transformative economic and community impact on Port Hueneme. The program will also recognize Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Education Partner of the Year, Businessperson of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and Public Servant of the Year, along with the traditional Oxnard Trophy and Camarillo’s Stan Daily Lifetime Achievement Award.

Port Hueneme, CA – The City of Port Hueneme City Council has approved funding for two community benefit projects that support coastal preservation and bring residents together through an annual community event. Funded through the City’s partnership with the Port of Hueneme, the projects will provide ongoing support for the Beach Erosion Authority for Clean Oceans and Nourishment, known as BEACON, and the annual Sea Splash Color Dash 5K & Kids 1K and Health and Wellness Fair.
The City and Port established the Community Benefit Fund to support projects that benefit Port Hueneme residents and advance shared priorities, including shoreline protection, community development, and economic opportunities. Recent updates to the agreement allow both agencies to allocate their respective shares of available funding more efficiently and direct resources toward projects that provide timely community benefits.
Through this funding, the City will provide approximately $38,143 annually to support BEACON and its regional efforts to address coastal erosion, protect local beaches, and advance shoreline preservation. Continued participation supports collaboration with regional partners on issues affecting Hueneme Beach, coastal infrastructure, and the long-term health of the shoreline.
An additional $30,000 annually will support the Sea Splash Color Dash, a community 5K and kids 1k event, and Health and Wellness Fair, hosted in partnership with the Port of Hueneme. The event encourages health, wellness, and community connection while bringing residents, families, and visitors together for a shared experience in Port Hueneme.
Both projects will be funded through the Community Benefit Fund. Together, they demonstrate how the City and Port can continue working collaboratively to protect local resources, support community priorities, and enhance the quality of life in Port Hueneme.
