Seabees get it done!

NMCB 5 received a visit from a party led by Commander, Carrier Strike Group 9 (CSG-9), when they were touring facilities under Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSEA) Port Hueneme Division. NMCB 5 Seabees are currently tasked with constructing a concrete pad for NAVSEA to support their efforts in unmanned vessels capabilities and enabling the warfighter.

See how our Seabees are getting ready for deployment!

The clock is ticking for moving out towards the INDOPACOM theater. To get there, we train our Seabees in the basics of tactical skills in order to be prepared for combat operations.

That's how we maintain ourselves as !

With the passing of Memorial Day, we would like to take a moment to recognize one more "Professional" NMCB 5 lost in the last year.

EOC Gregory Moseley

06 January 1984 - 13 January 2025

EOC (SCW) Gregory W. Moseley was a dedicated and accomplished Equipment Operator Chief in the United States Navy. A native of Placerville, CA, he enlisted in April 2005 and began his journey in the Seabees at Equipment Operator ‘A’ School in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. His first duty assignment took him to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) THREE in Port Hueneme, California, where he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq; Okinawa, Japan; Bagram, Afghanistan; Djibouti, Africa; and Chin-Hae, South Korea. His dedication and skill earned him a promotion to Second Class Petty Officer and qualification as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist.

Chief Moseley was not only an expert in his field but also a mentor and leader who shaped the careers of countless sailors. His time at Naval Construction Training Center (NCTC) Port Hueneme as the Leading Petty Officer for the Equipment Operator Advanced ‘C’ School allowed him to develop the next generation of Seabee Equipment Operators, earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification. He took pride in his ability to pass on knowledge, ensuring that those under his instruction were not just technically proficient but also prepared to lead.

His leadership continued with NMCB FIVE, where he completed multiple deployments, serving as Platoon Commander and Projects LCPO. He was known for his ability to lead from the front, never asking of his sailors what he would not do himself. His guidance and mentorship were instrumental in the development of junior sailors and junior officers alike, many of whom credit their own success to the lessons learned from him. In 2017, he was selected for Chief Petty Officer, a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Navy and the Seabees.

At First Naval Construction Regiment, Chief Moseley played a key role in overseeing major construction efforts, including the placement of 74,000 tons of asphalt in Corpus Christi, Texas. As Training LCPO (R7C), he ensured the readiness of 1,800 personnel across four units, taking a personal interest in their growth and success. His final assignment brought him back to NMCB FIVE as the Alfa Company Operations LCPO, where he remained a steadfast leader and role model. His sailors respected him not just for his expertise but for his ability to inspire, challenge, and develop them into stronger professionals and individuals.

Chief Moseley’s distinguished service was recognized with numerous awards, including two Navy Commendation Medals, six Navy Achievement Medals, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, two Battle Efficiency "E" Ribbons, four Navy Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and eleven Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.
Beyond his impressive military career, Greg was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a mentor to all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. He led with integrity, strength, and an unwavering sense of duty, always putting the needs of his team before his own. His presence left a lasting impact on those who served with him, and his legacy will live on through the countless sailors he mentored and inspired.

Chief Moseley will be deeply missed, but his memory and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide those who follow in his footsteps.

Fair Winds and Following Seas, Chief.

This Memorial Day, we take a moment to recognize one of our sailors that recently passed.

UT2 Jacob Heath Dildine

01 February 2002 - 21 January 2026

Born on February 1, 2002, Petty Officer Jacob Dildine was a native of Millville, Pennsylvania. He began his journey with the U.S. Navy on February 28, 2022. After graduating boot camp in May 2022, Jacob reported to Surface Warfare Engineering School Great Lakes as deck seaman that same month. Upon graduating from training in May 2022, he reported to his first command onboard the USS SHOUP (DDG 86) and transferred to the USS MILIUS (DDG 69) in November 2023. After striking the UT rating, he reported to “A” school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX, in June 2024. After graduating from “A” school, Jacob attended Expeditionary Combat School (ECS) in Gulfport, MS in November 2024. Following the completion of ECS in December 2024, he reported to his first duty station as a Seabee with NMCB-5.

Jacob was a kind and gentle soul, with a smile that you couldn’t help but return, even on the heaviest of days. With quick wit and easy laugh, he brought joy wherever he went and enveloped all with his warmth and charisma. A devoted Christian, his faith guided his actions, shaping a life marked by compassion, humility and grace. No task was ever too menial or small, and he met every responsibility without complaint. Jacob was always eager to lend a hand and lighten the burden of others around him. His positivity and charm were infectious and are sorely missed. His presence was a blessing, and his legacy is one of steadfast goodness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Outside of his military career, he fiercely loved God, family and his friends. He enjoyed attending church services, sharing prayers with shipmates, and spending time with friends in his downtime. It wasn’t uncommon to see him riding around in some capacity – whether it be a bike, an electric scooter, and even an electric one-wheel.

Kind-Hearted, Effervescent Spirit, and Little Brother to All; Jacob will Never be Forgotten, and we will Always carry his Happiness, Positivity, and Wittiness with us!

Fair Winds and Following Seas, Jacob.

This Memorial Day, we take a moment to recognize one of our sailors that recently passed.

SW2 Que Xavier Syboune

15 March 2001 - 28 December 2025

Born on March 15, 2001, Petty Officer Que Syboune was a California boy at heart who grew up in Porterville, California. He began his journey with the U.S. Navy on December 6, 2021, and from the start, he demonstrated true commitment to excellence. After graduating boot camp in February 2022, Que attended Steel Worker “A” school and Expeditionary Combat School in Gulfport, Mississippi. Upon graduating from training in May 2022, he reported to his first command, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE in Port Hueneme, California.

As a skilled Steelworker, He was a master of his trade, not because it came easy, but because he cared enough to work hard to perfect it. When challenges came, Que didn’t shy away, but rather he rose to meet them with determination and a steady, positive attitude. He was the kind of Sailor who made those around him better, always willing to lend a hand or take a moment to teach. He took pride in making sure his junior Steelworkers had the same knowledge and confidence he had worked so hard to build in himself. During Deployments to the Philippines and Iwakuni, Japan, his leaders shared that he had an uncanny ability to break even the sternest of looks and always carried himself with a calm spirit and a genuine smile, ready to take on anything that came his way.

Outside of his military career he loved his family and friends deeply and found peace in the great outdoors, whether that meant fishing on a quiet day or spending hours working on his car or bike always tweaking, fixing and making things better. As a big fan of anime, his favorite was Howl’s Moving Castle, which seemed to match his own calm, loyal, and quietly strong personality. He also had a passion for good food, especially Lao larb beef and papaya salad which he treated as “life changing. Eating wasn’t just a habit for him, it was an experience and somehow he still found room for dedicated time at the gym afterwards.

True Teammate, Skilled Mentor, and Loyal Brother; Que will Never be Forgotten, and we will Always carry his Happiness, Positivity, and Laughter with us!

Fair Winds and Following Seas, Que.
