Tomorrow, Sunday Oct. 19th, Port Huron Township Fire will be hosting a live fire class presented by Oakland Community College. This class provides valuable instruction and hands on training for our firefighters to better serve you! The class is being held at the Township DPW building, so expect smoke in the area throughout the day. If anyone has any questions, please contact the station.

Update: burning operations have been suspended and the property owner is extinguishing the burn.

Public Service Announcement: There will be a controlled burn taking place on Lapeer Road near 40th Street. All safety precautions are in place. If any members of the public have questions please contact the fire station 810-982-3543

Today your local Port Huron Township Firefighters along with US Coast Guard Station Port Huron conducted ice rescue training utilizing the helicopter that’s stationed at Selfridge. This training helps us and the Coast Guard work seamlessly together in the event of an emergency. Port Huron Township Fire Department has been training alongside with the Coast Guard every year since 2018!

Last nights cold weather didn’t stop us from our annual ice rescue training! The training started in the classroom with an equipment refresher and safety briefing, followed by hands on scenarios at 40th Street Pond. The lowest recorded temperature last night was -4 degrees 🥶. As always special thanks to US Coast Guard station Port Huron for their assistance.

Last night your local Port Huron Township Firefighters conducted Hazardous Materials refresher training. This training focused on Chemical composition, hazard mitigation, patient assessment/decontamination/treatment, and evidence preservation. These trainings help prepare the firefighters in the event that they are called to an incident involving Hazardous Materials. *all of the materials used were safe eco friendly products that were dyed to simulate the actual represented products*

This week your local Port Huron Township Firefighters trained on water rescue. This training focused on a “GO” based rescue. These techniques are used if a shore based rescue is unfeasible. All Port Huron Township Firefighters are required to be trained and proficient in water and ice rescue.
