One final look back at our 19th Annual Run for Recovery!

The official race photo gallery is now available: https://runsignup.com/Race/Photos/MI/PortHuron/CMHRun4Recovery

This year's event was one of our largest Runs for Recovery to date, bringing together 592 registered participants, 93 volunteers, and 27 sponsors who helped raise $16,650 in support of mental health and recovery initiatives in our community.

Whether you ran, walked, volunteered, sponsored, cheered from the sidelines, or helped behind the scenes, thank you for being part of another incredible year. Events like this are only possible because of the strong support of our community.

Take a look through the photos, and we'll see you next year for our 20th Annual Run for Recovery!

The Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies Run for Recovery is on Saturday May 9, 2026. It includes the following events: 1-Mile Timed Kids Run (12 & under), 2-Mile Walk (accessible course), 2-Mile Walk (accessible course) - 18 & Younger, 5K Run/Walk, and 5K Run/Walk - 18 & Younger.

Most people become eligible for Medicare at 65, so Medicare Fraud Prevention Week is celebrated the week of 6/5. As a community, we can all participate in Medicare Fraud Prevention Week by looking out for our older neighbors and community members.

For example, when you are out in public, be aware of older people purchasing gift cards in large amounts. If you see this, ask questions or mention gift card scams. Many people have helped stop a scam in its tracks by stepping in and asking questions.

The transition into adulthood can bring excitement, independence, uncertainty, stress—and sometimes mental health or substance use challenges.

For many young adults, asking for help can feel difficult, but support is available, and no one has to navigate these experiences alone.

If you notice changes in mood, sleep, energy levels, daily functioning, or feelings of hopelessness in yourself or someone you care about, reaching out for support can make a difference.

Mental health care is an important part of the Medicaid program, helping fund services such as therapy, medications, crisis care, and peer support for millions of Americans.

A new federal rule would require some Medicaid recipients to regularly report work, school, volunteer activities, or qualifying exemptions to maintain coverage. NAMI has expressed concern that these requirements could make it harder for some individuals with mental health conditions to keep their health coverage, especially during times when they need care the most.

Blue Water Community Action is asking St. Clair County residents to take part in their 2026 Community Needs Assessment Survey.

The survey helps identify local needs and guide programs and services that support our community. The more feedback received, the better organizations can advocate for resources and support where they’re needed most.

Take the survey here before June 20, 2026:

Men’s Health Month is an important reminder that mental health IS health.

Too often, men are encouraged to “push through,” stay silent, or handle struggles on their own. But stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, and burnout can affect anyone, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Many thanks to NAMI for sharing resources to raise awareness about men’s mental health.
