Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site Summer Hours: Daily 10-9; Off-Season 9-6. Built in 1852, the Port Isabel Lighthouse is a Texas Historical Commission State Historic Site.

The site includes a Visitors Center in the replica Keeper's Cottage, a park and the Lighthouse.

The purple sage predicted some rain! UPDATE: Thursday's Lighthouse movie date will be rescheduled for 7/24 (Friday). SpongeBob's underwater adventures should be a little bit drier then! Activities will be offered at the Port Isabel Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage on Friday, and May 3- 8 pm. FREE drop-in activity on the Visitor Center back

Inspired by the sunlight that shines through the ocean, bringing SpongeBob's underwater adventures to life on the screen, and the light that passes through and is bent by the lighthouse’s Fresnel lens, create your own colorful suncatcher to see how light can be transformed.

UPDATE: Due to the predicted and unpredictable weather, this Thursday's Lighthouse movie date will be rescheduled for 7/24 (Friday). SpongeBob's underwater adventures should be a little bit drier then! Activities will be offered at the Port Isabel Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage on Thursday (3-5 pm) and Friday (3-8 pm).

THURSDAY: Join a lighthouse keeper this Thursday (July 23) from 3:00 – 5:00pm for our FREE drop-in activity on the Visitor Center back porch! The Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site witnesses its 174th Independence Day! Happy 250th America! We open at 10 a.m. today, (Saturday, July 4th), and will stay open until 10 p.m. Call (956) 943-0735 to view South Padre Island's fireworks over the Laguna Madre Bay on the 250th Birthday of the U.S.A. $20 per person. Fireworks over the Bay start at 9:15 p.m. Entrance to the Lighthouse at 9 p.m.
