There will be a Board of Education Workshop and Meeting tomorrow, September 2, 2026, beginning at 7:30 PM at District Office. The regular meeting will begin following the conclusion of the workshop. The regular meeting will also be livestreamed on the Comsewogue School District YouTube Channel.

It was fantastic having all of our teachers back today to kick off the 2026-2027 school year. We can’t wait for the students to return tomorrow!

Reminder: Elementary schools have half days tomorrow and Wednesday, and a full day Thursday.. Secondary schools have a full day Tuesday-Thursday. All schools are closed for students on Friday for the beginning of Labor Day Recess.

🚧 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 8/27/2026

Our final construction update of the summer is here, and we have some exciting photos and updates to share!

The school store at Comsewogue High School is completed and looks incredible! We can’t wait for students and staff to visit and purchase their Spartan spirit wear (snacks and drinks available too!) Additionally, we’ve replaced all of the old flags in the north and south parking lots with new flags, proudly displaying our district logo and colors.

Boyle’s playground is nearing completion, with an asphalt walking path now installed around the perimeter of the playground, along with a new, small turf field for sports. Fencing is also being replaced on the south side of the property.

At Norwood, crews have spread topsoil to level out all areas surrounding the playgrounds in preparation for hydroseeding. Fence work is also still in progress around the perimeter of the playground area.

At Clinton, hydroseeding is complete in both the Kindergarten playground and grades 1-2 playground, along with all areas worn out by construction equipment during the project.

Equipment is still in the process of being installed at Terryville’s playground, with supports and equipment going up this week and concrete work nearing completion.

A full post with the final photos of all summer construction projects will be shared in the coming weeks, along with overhauled Buildings & Grounds and Capital Projects page on our website to capture the full process of our district’s construction initiatives.

Comsewogue School District welcomed our new teachers on Wednesday, August 26th during a special luncheon, where they got to meet our administrative team, introduce themselves to one another and spend time with their first-year mentors. We are excited to see everything they will bring to our district, and most importantly, to know that they will serve as role models for our students for years to come.

🚧 SUMMER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 8/19/26

Crews have been especially busy at Norwood this week, painting the walls and door frames throughout the building as one of the final steps of the wall tile replacement project. New railings are being installed in both stairwells, and will be painted after installation is complete. Additionally, concrete walkways have been installed between and around the playground equipment for accessibility access.

At Terryville, four new basketball hoops are being installed to complement the new recess asphalt area. For the playground, holes have been dug for the concrete bases for the new equipment.

The Boyle playground project is nearing completion, with a walking path scheduled to be installed next around the perimeter of the new equipment. Our maintenance team is hard at work in the front hallway of the building, replacing old fluorescent lights with new LED fixtures in 14 classrooms.

🚧SUMMER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 8/12/2026

The elementary playgrounds continue to progress nicely! The majority of the equipment at Boyle is now installed, with crews preparing to install wood fiber chips and rubber play surfaces next. At Clinton, the wood fiber chips and rubber play surfaces are in the process of being installed, along with concrete walkways between each of the play areas.

At Terryville, crews are laying new asphalt today for the basketball court. At JFK, our maintenance team is renovating the wash room in the gym hallway with new electric, framing, and equipment.

Additional ballasts have been installed on the railings at Norwood, bringing them up to code to meet the latest safety standards. The wall tile has been grouted, and prep work has been completed before the building, railings and door frames are painted.

The ceiling replacement in the District Office Board Room and lobby is now complete, with entirely new grid and ceiling tiles installed in both spaces by our own maintenance and custodial teams.

Additional updates to come next week as the summer begins to wind down!
