Join us for a special back to back celebration honoring people who helped shape Port Jefferson, past and present.
An Evening of Legacy, Service, and Community
Port Jefferson Village Center
Thursday, January 22
Free and open to all. Donations welcome to benefit the Port Jefferson Conservancy
5:30 PM | Ron Carlson Dedication
The evening begins with the dedication of the Village Center Recreation Office in honor of Ron Carlson, celebrating 50 years of dedicated service to the Village of Port Jefferson.
Hired in 1975 by Mayor Sandra Swenk, who will be in attendance, Ron has served tirelessly under all subsequent administrations, leaving a lasting impact on the heart of our community.
6:00 PM | Founding Families of Port Jefferson: The Solo Effect
At 6:00 PM, the Village proudly launches what will become an annual celebration of the Founding Families of Port Jefferson with its inaugural exhibition, The Solo Effect.
This photographic exhibit, curated by the surviving children of Naomi and Dick Solo, offers an intimate look at more than 50 years of village life, civic engagement, creativity, and community building. It honors two founding figures of the Port Jefferson Conservancy and the legacy they leave behind.
Presented with the support of the Port Jefferson Conservancy
Both events are made possible by the Port Jefferson Conservancy, whose mission is to foster a warm and engaging community atmosphere by:
• Embracing Port Jefferson’s rich maritime history
• Nurturing the arts, with a special note to music
• Celebrating maritime life
• Offering diverse recreational activities for all families
At the heart of the Conservancy’s work is strengthening human connection, especially around Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park and the Port Jefferson Village Center.
While the evening is free and open to all, donations will be graciously accepted at the door in support of the Conservancy’s ongoing mission and future community programming.
Two events. One night. One Conservancy. One Village.
We hope you’ll join us.
