Port Jervis Fire Department PJFD
The Port Jervis Fire Department consists of approximately 275 dedicated volunteer members. In 2019 we celebrated our 169th parade.

The Port Jervis Fire Department is dedicated to safeguarding the lives, property, and environment of our community through exceptional services in education, preparedness, prevention and prompt response to emergency incidents. There are 5 fire stations located strategically within the city limits. The Port Jervis Fire Department's vehicle apparatus consists of four pumpers, one Squrt articulating b

oom pumper , one 105' aerial ladder truck, one Rescue & Salvage truck, one Fire Police vehicle, two river rescue boats, and three Chief's vehicles. We have a Special Operations Squad consisting of an Accident Vehicle Extrication Team, a Technical Rescue Rope Team and a Water Operations Team. Other components include highly trained SCUBA divers, a swift water rescue team and a trench collapse rescue team. One of the highlights of the fire department is its annual Fireman's Day Parade, which we believe is the oldest continuous fireman's parade in the US.

Wrapping up the busy day with calls 6 and 7. Port Jervis was requested on the 1st alarm assignment into Dingman Township with the ladder for a reported house on fire. Car 4 and Truck 7 were on the road prior to dispatch and arrived as the second due truck. The crew went to work, assisting companies on scene with knocking down the fire and opening up. While the truck operated, Otisville was requested into the city with their Tower Ladder for coverage. Otisville Tower 140 and Squad 1 answered alarm #7 for the day at KFC, which was smoke from cooking. Big thank you to Otisville for making the trip!

Shortly before 4 AM this morning, Port Jervis was requested on the 2nd alarm assignment into Huguenot with 2 Engines for a house fire with possible entrapment. Car 1 arrived to a well advanced structure fire. Engine 2, with a full crew, arrived as the 1st due Engine and was followed shortly after by Huguenot Engine 814 and both crews immediately went to work knocking down the majority of fire. Engine 6 was directed to the Fill-Site on Painted Aprons Terr, and drafted nearly 20000 gallons from the pond. There was determined to be negative entrapment, as nobody was home at the time of the fire.

Additional photos are from a call at Kolmar later in the day, which was determined to be an issue with a rooftop unit.
