🚦 Traffic Safety Reminder 🚦

If you come to an intersection where the traffic lights are out or not working properly, treat it as a four-way stop.

That means: ✅ Come to a complete stop
✅ Take turns in the order vehicles arrive
✅ Yield to the vehicle on your right if you arrive at the same time
✅ Watch carefully for pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency vehicles

Please slow down, stay alert, and be patient. A few extra seconds can prevent an accident.

Behind every secure system is someone taking the responsibility seriously.

One of our officers proudly shows off his certificate after completing required computer security training. Each year, our personnel complete State-required cybersecurity awareness training, along with CJIS security training for those who access or support systems containing Criminal Justice Information.

This training helps ensure our staff know how to protect sensitive information, recognize cyber threats, avoid phishing attempts, use secure passwords, and follow proper procedures when using law enforcement systems.

This week, we recognize and honor the men and women who wear the badge and the families who stand behind them.
During National Police Week, we pause to remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and thank those who continue to serve our communities every day, often without recognition, but never without purpose.
Law enforcement is more than flashing lights and emergency calls. It’s long nights, missed holidays, difficult conversations, quick decisions, paperwork at 2 a.m., and showing up again the next day ready to serve.
To our officers, dispatchers, support staff, animal control officers, and all first responders: thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our community safe.
And to the community we serve, thank you for your support, your kindness, and the trust you place in us.

We live on the coast… we know how this goes. 🌧️🌪️
The best time to prepare for a hurricane is before there’s a name attached to it.
Take a few minutes today to check out our Hurricane Preparedness page for tips, supplies lists, and resources

Living along the Texas Gulf Coast presents unique challenges. PLPD works closely with the City of Port Lavaca and emergency management partners to help residents prepare for hurricanes, flooding, and severe weather.

Today we are thinking of the team at Bexar Metro 911 and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office following the unexpected loss of Samantha “Sam” Woodward while at work.

Dispatchers are often the unseen first responders — the calm voice in chaos when people need help most.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and fellow telecommunicators during this difficult time.
