“ADCOM911 is striving constantly to improve our service to the community, and ASAP will aid us in that endeavor as it streamlines the dispatch process, shortens response times, and greatly assists in saving lives and property.”

— Joel Estes, Director of Adams County, CO Communications Center Authority (ADCOM911)

That’s the real value of technology in emergency communications.

Not flashy dashboards. Not buzzwords. Fewer delays. Fewer misunderstandings. Less time spent repeating critical information while someone waits for help.

When communication moves faster and cleaner between systems, telecommunicators can focus on what matters most: the people on the other end of the call.

Every routine alarm call handled over the phone is time taken away from a real emergency.

That’s why Paducah-McCracken County 911 in Kentucky recently implemented Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) Service — modernizing how alarm data is delivered by sending it directly into CAD.

Serving a community with approximately 120,000 calls for service annually, the agency expects to eliminate nearly 4,800 routine phone calls each year tied to alarm activations, address verification, and keyholder updates.

Instead of telecommunicators spending valuable time manually relaying information, critical alarm data is delivered faster, more accurately, and with less effort.

For ECCs facing staffing challenges, increasing call volumes, and growing operational demands, automation is no longer just a convenience — it’s becoming essential infrastructure for modern emergency response.

As of go-live the following monitoring centers were transmitting alarms to Paducah-McCracken County 911 including ADT, Affiliated Monitoring, ALERT 360, Becklar, ESC Central, Everon, Guardian Protection, Johnson Controls, National Monitoring Center, Quick Response Monitoring, Rapid Response Monitoring, Security Central, United Central Control, Vector Security, and Vivint.

“Most of the work happens behind the scenes. Our telecommunicators didn’t have to change anything — they just needed 15 to 30 minutes of training. It was really a no-brainer from a technology and change-management perspective.”

That’s how Bob Finney, Director of Communications Technology for Collier County, Florida, describes their experience with ASAP Service.

In emergency communications, the best technology isn’t the loudest. It’s the technology that quietly removes friction, reduces stress on telecommunicators, and helps information move faster when seconds matter.

Collier County processes 27,000 alarm notifications through ASAP Service, saving their ECC team 26 hours every month by delivering verified alarm data directly into CAD.

No disruption. Just one less thing standing between a call for help and a response.

Eaton County Central Dispatch in Michigan has officially implemented ASAP View.

By moving from traditional voice-based alarm calls to electronic delivery of alarm data, Eaton County is taking an important step toward faster, more standardized emergency communications workflows.

For a center handling more than 112,000 calls for service annually, reducing manual processing and improving information consistency can have a real operational impact for both telecommunicators and first responders.

Full CAD integration is planned as the next phase but today marks an important milestone in Eaton County's modernization journey.

"The implementation of ASAP Service is a significant step forward in modernizing emergency communications in Eaton County."
— Kelley Flynn, Director, Eaton County Central Dispatch

As of go-live the following monitoring centers were transmitting alarms to Eaton County Central Dispatch including Affiliated Monitoring, ALERT 360, Becklar, COPS Monitoring, ESC Central, Everon, Johnson Controls, National Monitoring Center, Rapid Response Monitoring, United Central Control, Vector Security, and Vivint.

Behind every alarm call is a telecommunicator trying to move information quickly, clearly, and accurately.

Heather McGaffin, ENP CPE, Director of DC OUC, shares a challenge many emergency communications centers know well: too much time spent managing information instead of acting on it.

That's why conversations around reducing manual processes matter. When dispatchers can stay focused on the call instead of the paperwork around it, everyone benefits — from telecommunicators to first responders to the communities they serve.

As staffing pressures and call complexity continue to grow, practical operational improvements are becoming more important than ever.

Appreciate Heather and the DC OUC team for sharing their experience and perspective.

When accuracy isn't optional.

In public safety, a misrouted alarm isn't just a technical issue. It can delay response, waste resources, and put lives and property at risk.

That's why standards matter.

ASAP is the only standards-based service that pre-verifies addresses before information ever reaches a telecommunicator. The result is fewer routing errors, more reliable response details, and greater confidence that the right information is getting to the right place the first time.

Because in emergency communications, every second—and every detail—matters.

How is your center working to reduce routing errors and improve response accuracy?

Rochester-Olmsted County Emergency Communications Center in Minnesota is now live with ASAP View—with full ASAP Service CAD integration planning underway.

With more than 4,160 alarm notifications annually, their goal is simple: reduce the time telecommunicators spend handling manual alarm calls so they can stay focused on higher-priority emergencies.

Manual alarm calls can add 2-8 minutes to every response.

"As ASAP Service is implemented, it's going to speed things up - the time savings for handling and processing alarms is where we're going to see the biggest impact."
-Melissa Burns, 911 Communications Manager

Exciting to see another ECC taking steps toward faster, more efficient emergency communications.

As of go-live the following monitoring centers were transmitting alarms to Rochester-Olmsted including Affiliated Monitoring, Security Central, Quick Response Monitoring, Per Mar Security Services, Vivint, United Central Control, Everon, Rapid Response Monitoring, Guardian Protection, and National Monitoring Center.

Routine alarm notifications shouldn't compete with 911 emergencies for your ECC's time.

It's a simple question - but it has a big operational impact.

The City of Burlingame 911 department, which dispatches for Burlingame and San Bruno Police Departments, serving 36,000 and 42,000 residents, just made a shift that many still assume depends on the size of your center.

They went live with Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) Service.

With ASAP View, their ECC can now receive alarm data digitally and securely eliminating routine phone calls and reducing manual entry.

The impact:
🔸Less non-emergency call volume
🔸More accurate, standardized data
🔸Faster, more efficient call handling
🔸Freeing up telecommunicators for true emergencies

And here's what matters most: They did it without CAD integration.

This is where the conversation is changing.

ASAP isn't about size - it's about efficiency, accuracy, and giving telecommunicators their time back.

As of go-live the following monitoring centers were transmitting alarms to Burlingame and San Bruno PD including Affiliated Monitoring, ALERT 360, Becklar, Everon, National Monitoring Center, Quick Response Monitoring, Rapid Response Monitoring, Security Central, Johnson Controls, United Central Control, Vector Security, and Vivint.
