On 16 June 1775, the Continental Congress organized an army which staff included a chief engineer and two assistants. This date marks the birth of the Corps of Engineers. The customs, traditions, and Esprit de Corps that began on that day 245 years ago continue today through your service.

Today we honor our Corps and all of those past and present who have served our Nation with honor while wearing the castles.
