Washington National Guard Recruiter - Port Orchard Gig Harbor The National Guard is not like Active Duty service. You are able to live and work where you want and report to your assigned unit 1 weekend a month.

I am SSG Hauenstein a Washington National Guard Recruiter for and looking for those that want to live here and serve our communities at the same time. It is part-time, 1 weekend a month and 2-3 weeks in the summer (after basic combat training and Advanced Individual Training). If life takes you to another state for work, college, or family reasons, that is okay. You are abl

e to do an Interstate Transfer (IST) to the new states National Guard from your current states National Guard. There is so much flexibility and freedom that comes with your part-time service in the National Guard. I joined in South Dakota my senior year of high school. Transferred to the Ohio Army National Guard to attend college, then transferred to Washington Army National Guard. While in the Ohio Army National Guard I worked 40 hours a week a, went to college 20 hours a week, and did all the things required of me by the Army National Guard.
