Kevin Phillips, Port Royal Mayor

Kevin Phillips, Port Royal Mayor I’m excited when I think of the opportunities facing Port Royal.

We live in a very special place and I look forward to working with my fellow citizens to build upon our past to create our best future.

One of the things that makes Port Royal special is seeing families, neighbors, and visitors enjoying town by golf cart.

With summer here and more people out and about, I wanted to share a friendly reminder: let's make safety our top priority.

✔️ Obey traffic laws
✔️ Stay alert at intersections
✔️ Buckle up if your cart is equipped with seat belts
✔️ Keep all passengers seated while the cart is moving
✔️ Never allow underage or unlicensed drivers behind the wheel
✔️ Be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles

Golf carts are a great way to enjoy our community, but they deserve the same attention and responsibility as any other vehicle on the road.

Let's all do our part to keep Port Royal safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone this summer.

See you around town.

Town Council Meeting
Second Wednesday of every month | 6:30 PM

Workshops are for discussion.
Council Meetings are for decisions.

Both are open to the public—and both play an important role in shaping Port Royal.

🚨 MAYOR MYTHBUSTER MONDAY 🚨

MYTH: The businesses in Port Royal are closed because of construction.

FACT: Every business is OPEN and ready to welcome you!

I know construction can sometimes make it seem like areas are harder to access, but our restaurants, shops, and local businesses are still here—and they need our support now more than ever.

The improvements we're making today are investments in Port Royal's future, but the small businesses that make our town special are open for business right now.

So don't let a few orange cones keep you away.

Grab lunch. Enjoy dinner. Do a little shopping. Support local.

I'll see you around town.

One of the things that makes Port Royal special is that you can actually walk it.

From neighborhood streets to local businesses, parks, schools, and waterfront views—we want our town to stay connected, accessible, and pedestrian-friendly.

That's why Port Royal offers a Sidewalk Incentive Program for qualifying property owners.

✔️ The Town helps cover 50% of sidewalk construction costs
✔️ Property owners may receive an additional 8 feet of right-of-way added to their property
✔️ Together, we're continuing to build a safer, more walkable Port Royal

It's a win for homeowners, a win for neighbors, and a win for our community.

Learn more about the program at https://www.portroyal.org/DocumentCenter/View/1920/Sidewalk-Policy-2026?bidId= or reach out to Town Hall with questions.

Town Council Workshop Meeting
📅 First Wednesday of Every Month
🕡 6:30 PM

One of the questions I hear from residents is, "What's the difference between a Town Council Workshop and a Town Council Meeting?"

Our workshops are where Council members discuss issues, ask questions, and work through topics in greater detail. The Town Council Meeting is where official business is conducted and votes are taken.

Both meetings are important, both are open to the public, and both help shape the future of Port Royal.

Whether you're interested in a specific project, want to stay informed, or simply want to better understand how local government works, I encourage you to attend.

Your perspective matters, and I always appreciate residents who take the time to stay engaged in our community.

June 1 marks the official start of hurricane season, and while we all hope for a quiet few months, now is the time to prepare—not panic.

Take a few minutes this week to check your emergency supplies, review your family's plan, and make sure you know where to find reliable information if a storm heads our way.

A few simple things can make a big difference:
✔️ Stock up on essentials
✔️ Check flashlights and batteries
✔️ Review insurance documents
✔️ Know your evacuation zone
✔️ Sign up for local emergency alerts

Living in the Lowcountry means enjoying the coast—but it also means being ready when Mother Nature has other plans.

The Town of Port Royal will continue sharing updates and resources throughout hurricane season. Stay informed, stay prepared, and look out for your neighbors.

Let's have a safe summer, Port Royal.

We currently have three projects underway in Port Royal—Paris Avenue Streetscape, the new Splash Pad, and our Stormwater Drainage improvements.

All are progressing as expected.

I know construction can be inconvenient at times, but these are important investments in our community. Our businesses remain open and need your support, the splash pad is on track for this summer, and the drainage project will be completed soon.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to make Port Royal even better.
